From watching some interviews of the directors and actors of the games they make it clear they're only here for the current game. They might know a few things about the previous games but you'd think they take the time to play the first or second game for a few minutes to get an idea or watch any playthrough to not be awkward when asked in interviews. I'm excited for anything DA and hopefully part 4 will be amazing like the other 3 in their own unique ways.

I am not interested in romancing companions, even if the characters are smoking hot and interesting; it would not be my first priority. I want to save the world, uncover the mystery, save Solas if possible, be a part of this grand story, and play a significant role in it. So yes, I am 'thirsty' for that. But that's just me. interview tells a lot about the team.
