Name change doesn't really bother me, just wish we could lose "the" to keep it in the single word subtitle format of Origins and Inquisition.

I think Dreadwolf sounded cooler as a name, but I understand why they changed it to Veilguard and I don't mind it. Bit weird to have the "the" in the title though, as many have said.

Also, feels weird to have the name changed so close to this wave of news and reveals. Wish we had more time to adjust to it. But there probably is a reason they did it that way, and regardless, I'm excited for the game.

When the name changed I immediately thought about your video on placeholder in-development codenames and how we get easily attached to names after awhile

I think it really does refocus to storyline. In fact, someone said "Unveiled" as a new name a week ago.

I do like it better than Dreadwolf (because the game has never stylized it that way), but I'm definitely in the "drop the 'the' crowd." Dragon Age: Veilguard rolls off the tongue much better and is in keeping with prior naming conventions

You are correct about the old title: Dreadwolf. It gave me the impression that Solas was going to be a big bad, and that the game would take place immediately after the Inquisition. (I wouldn't have assumed I'd be playing as the Inquisitor though). Veilguard does focus more on the Party, and reminds us of all the lore found in The Fade: one of my favorite things to explore back in DAO. I would've advocated fer the removal of "The". I suspect folks will call it DAV regardless. The name change is reasonable: I imagine it was a "now or never" situation. 2025 approaches.

I figured the name change came because the focus wouldn't be on Solas the entire time, which would predicate a namechange.

I did think it was a bit bizarre to name a Dragon Age game after its initial antagonist. It would be like Origins being called "Dragon Age: Archdemon" or "Dragon Age: Darkspawn." If The Veilguard is shortened to "Veilguard, " I think it works well because it does emphasize the companions' heroic role and sounds mysterious in itself.

Again, I'll say I like the name. It actually makes me more excited and I say this as a hardcore Solas lover. I think Veilguard sounds very cool. I'm so hyped now, it's ridiculous!

Yes, i did want a direct sequel to inquisition but it was the "avengers unite" tone of the trailer that especially put me off and that it was only a cinematic teaser without substantive gameplay.
