Going threw the TSA with a disability is horrible. They act like you are trying to take the airport down.

Another great video. The tip about valuables loose in the tray is excellent and I wish more people would understand that just because you're in an area called Security, doesn't mean your belongings are safe. I long ago stopped displaying my valuable items.

Keep up the amazing vids

I had to laugh when you were describing “being felt up”, my husband also has to go through manual and I also grab all his items. He was told once, “ if someone asks for a Pat Down, they probably don’t need on”, so true.

Years ago when TSA first started to scan--I had an incident concerning my fake knee & plates in my back(ALL metal!)! No kidding, they wanted me to put them on the conveyor belt for scanning! I told them: "I would if I could!" We all had a good laugh! Lol!

Don’t push your bins thru the machine too soon. You can be purposely held up and your things stolen after the metal detector. There are videos of TSA stealing from bag pockets while in line.

Don't think only other passengers have sticky fingers on your valuables, TSA officers have been getting caught time and time again stealing passengers goods, money, jewelry, electronics, etc.

Whatever you have with zippers, backpacks, bags, Fannie packs, purses, make sure it has 2 zippers and/or a way to lock it to keep temped fingers away from your stuff.

Most of the times TSA officers got caught stealing they worked in pairs, one pretents to fix your items prior to going into the x-ray and while you're distracted getting yourself x-rayed, the other one gets your goods after the your tray comes out before you have a chance to see anything.

This technique is used by most thieves and pickpockets, someone will distract you, while the other one will get his slippery hands on your belongings.

Keep your eyes open, airport security sees thousands of not hundreds of thousands of dollars rolling through everyday, and unfortunately some of those offices can't just let the opportunity pass.

If you do end up in a full body scanner unsuspectly (kinda a tube you stand in while a machine turn around you) and you have anyting in your pockets (even papers) they will ask you to raise your hands, take whatever you have in your pockets, paper and all and keep them in your raised hands. otherwise it will scan and you will most likely have additionnal checks.

That gift wrap thing is so true. One time a family member packed a bottle of rum (which is fine), but wrapped it around some shopping bag and cardboard that I guess was too concealing for the security scanners. What annoyed me the most is that it was in a checked bag that we had wrapped up in plastic because it was weak and old, so they called us from the gate to deal with this stupidity and when we got to our destination the bottle had broken and spilled rum all over the place...

One more. Even though you may be with friends going to a fun destination, do not talk or be laughing or joking around in line. Be quiet. You can talk and have a conversation. As you near the actual check point, be quiet and listen.

Great idea on sending your travel companion ahead to grab stuff off the belt for you. I'm in a wheelchair (I have MS), so me AND my chair always have to have swabs and pat downs. So don't feel envious when I skip the line. You will likely get through much faster than me.

All great tips. My brother or I are taking our Dad to Thailand for some dental work this summer since it's much cheaper there and just as good as USA. So your tips will come in handy to minimize the hassle.

Great video! The last time I was departing the US for international, I locked my carryon with the built in TSA lock. Well the lock jammed and I could not open it. After passing through security I asked a TSA attendant if they could unlock for me., explaining my dilemma. They were extremely nice and accommodating-- but it took about15- 20 minutes for them to locate someone with the special "keys" to unlock. Learned not always easy/handy for them to unlock, hence I don't use those locks anymore.

Valuable tips!..many of these are on my list and i keep the breakdown info handy so i remember ..mainly for which items need to be accessible for tsa or for in flight. I use flimsy zipties on my bags coz i only want to know if it's been opened, not trying to keep anyone out. Impossible anyway. I love having all my tray items including keys phones and wallet in an ugly fanypack i just throw it in the tray and I'm fine
