I have a funny story about when I was stuck at security in Egypt for an absurdly long time. The scanners were showing that there were liquids in my bag, but the staff couldn't find anything during the manual search. They took everything out and searched and searched, asking me questions, but I was as confused as they were. In the end, they concluded that their scanners must be having an off day and let me go on my way. It wasn't until later, at my destination hotel, I was flicking through a magazine that I had bought and discovered little sample packs of shampoo and conditioner stuck to the pages. Check your magazines. 🤣

My husband and I were split up and sent to separate security lines in a large airport and he had our baby backpack on him, which had several pouches of breast milk. I had the baby and the stroller and was not in their line of sight at that point, they took him aside and questioned him for quite a while before they brought him out to show them the wife and child he kept insisting he had, lol. I always carried the baby bag after that.

If you have a connecting flight but one is from one airline and one is from another, you may also get pat down since those are basically two one ways. I always fly on one way tickets and I always get assistance through the line. I have pretty bad anxiety and tend to talk some TSA people don't like this and find overly friendly or overly distant people suspicious. Its annoying because I am basically just trying to keep my anxiety down so that I can actually hear and process what they are mumbling because it is also really loud and some have quiet voices but don't like to repeat themselves.

On one of my trips at the height of so called Covid, officer wanted to pat me down, I refused for her to touch me being that she used the same gloves over and over, already in my tights, i removed my top and stood there in my bra, spun around and she was stunned. I told her that if your making a stink about Covid then you should also change gloves in btwn passengers, …..since the world is already crazy so am I. I continued without any issues while ppl were like did she just do that? Walked away with a smile on my face.

I am so happy that everyone was in a good mood but my bag was pulled aside to be searched. On the x ray it looked like I had to large butcher knives. It was the wings from the tinkerbelle souvenir that I packed in my bag. The tsa staff had a good laugh about it :D

I've been pulled over for additional screening for having an orange in my bag. Last time I was traveling with an insulated food storage bag, kind of like a lunch box. That got pulled because it's lined with foil. Next time I'll remember to take it out and put it in a bin.

My underwire bra used to set off the TSA security check until I started just wearing jogging bras on travel days. One time a male agent whispered to me that if I purchased my bras from Victoria's Secret I wouldn't have that problem. We both laughed. (I'm 62).

Lol, I had SSSS when we were coming back from Paris last month. I told my granddaughter I couldn't remember exactly what that stood for but I knew I was getting extra screening lol. I had seen it on one of your videos!! Glad that I did so I wasn't worried when they had me step aside.. Thanks!!

We had a problem with going through TSA with a mini zen garden, because it was a mix of organic (the sand) and inorganic on their system it shows up as a possible explosive.

I forgot about the gummies snacks in my carry on (not liquids, but looked like a liquid). I've also forgotten about the water bottle I was given on a connecting flight before landing in an international airport. Thick clothing layers in the winter also caused me issues.

I used to not like removing my belt so I bought one with a polymer buckle. They allowed that like two times, but after that, when they saw it on the scanner it always triggered a search. You have to remove your belt even if there is no metal.

Great advice, especially the ID one. I have sometimes seen issues because most ID have middle names but people don't put them when they book and vice versa.

The TSA in New Zealand and Scotland I have found to be very nice. I have been pulled out as a random person (along with others), for a random pat down. Other than that, I have not had any issues with TSA. I'm off to London and Paris in July. Videos like this are always helpful no matter how much one travels.

Megan, what is it like flying within Canada? Are the airport screenings there different?

A few years ago I was pulled over for an extra scan and pat-down at London Gatwick. When they found nothing they said it was likely because I was wearing trousers with a fairly high waist band, which can trigger an alert.

Now i think I know why I was scanned several times and searched over and over. I was trying to get connected to the airport WiFi while waiting in line to cross the security check when I landed in Bangkok a few years ago.

You should post about TSA mistakes. My check in bags internal components were cut up in 10 prices looking for...I don't know...drugs. I was on a domestic flight. I'd like to know the bone head TSA boss who gave the green light to ruin my luggage. 🇺🇲. My tax dollars at work.
