We were phlebotomists before becoming MRI Techs which means we've been sticking people for like 10 years!!! And that definitely helped when it came to starting IVs. If you are an upcoming graduate, new tech, or you're an experienced tech and just want to see how we start IVs then you came to the right place!! We hope you guys find this video helpful. Let us know if you have any questions.

I got goosebumps when that needle went in that far.

Man, that is such a nice setup. We need something like that in our MR department! We usually just use 22g for IV, the hold pressure to hook up the extension set, if not enough pressure is applied we run into a bloody mess.

Umm, maybe in a little slower and not so far in with the needle, he has healthy veins, the method you used would not work in an elderly person or pediatric patient with small or frail veins.

A lot of places have sterile bandages so you don't have to tape the catheter. Putting tape directly over the puncture site can lead to infections. You bandage the catheter site first with a clear dressing and use the non-sterile tape to secure the extension tubing..

Hi, I'm getting supplies from McKesson to start using this setup as it looks so much easier than the other system. I do IV's in a medical spa. My only question is do you also get your saline flush adapters from McKesson, If so can you please provide how I look them up, I'm having a hard time finding the one in the video. Thank you!

Hello! Great video!! I’m also planning to attending Casa Loma for MRI later this year! Do you remember how long was the class for practicing IVs and needle sticks? Thanks! :)

I know you probably answered this a lot but really at a crossroads on either to go for xray tech or straight to MRI. Time for schooling isn't really an issue at the moment even though the programs might be the same length and the cost I know will be huge for private but willing to take it on if it's faster to get in. Any public/private program/schools you'd recommend in the Los Angeles area? if you have any. Thanks for the dope videos! They really got me fired up to start!

For patient comfort would you say being quick and inserting to needle only as far as is needed for catheter insertion are key?

Thank u for this !
I'm a 3rd year student ... I'm really worried C's I didn't try once iv or Im .. we had this module about these stuffs but we didn't have the visual so when we went to clinical for 2 weeks, aloot of students tried ..for me iddnt get the chance C's I was afraid of needles and I get faint for that .. so I'm worried C's I'll start working the next year and I know well not have patients to be needled esp for x-rays but still .. as a paramedic I m ashamed iddnt picked a person before ☹️ ...thank uu again

The students in my MRI program are practicing IV’s on each other in 2 weeks. I did really well with the fake arm, but I faint when I get my own blood drawn. I’m worried about getting laughed at or kicked out of the program if I am too nervous around the needles.

If you are working in a hospital, would a phlebotomist insert the IV instead of the MRI tech? (I'm about to go back to school to be an MRI tech but have A LOT of anxiety around blood)

Hello MRI man … I’m a phlebotomist and been looking into a MRI program. I’m out here in Northern Cali and here at the hospital I already work at says you have to have your CRT license. Is that true? If so, why would that be if you’re not working with radiation? Thanks

I’ve been a cna for 6 years and I finally decided this is what I want to do. I found a school in van nuts that would work best for me. Since I still have to work full time. You think is worth getting into student debt?
