I habitually have ProtonVPN running. Is it then a mistake to use a Brave TOR connection too? Why? I think this advice needs a lot more explanation/elaboration.

What about separately, as in you connect to a vpn and then to tor or vice versa, then if one is compromised and the other isn't they still can't deanonimize you, or is there something wrong with this like i seem to remember

I think in one of your recent videos, you explained legitbait. I was taught to never use VPN over TOR for a couple reasons, so I was going to judge this video, but when you said "unless you know exactly what you're doing", I didn't question the video xD

Can anyone explain the reasoning though? Why one should not use a vpn to access the tor browser?

Sometimes I exit through a VPN paid with monero because I want to access sites that aren't nice to TOR. But I can get correlated across sessions which I have to keep in mind. It's also a more specific usage pattern, someone looking for me would know I use a certain VPN service, I use Monero, and some of the sites I use, and what times I access those sites and certain usage patterns. That info can really narrow down who I am, and I'm sure I haven't thought of everything.

You didn't explain it very well. Without a VPN the Entry node will see your IP and if you exit on an NSA owned exit node, they can see the websites visited, unless combined with a vpn or proxy. Even if the VPN isn't trust worthy or a domestic one, they can't see what you're doing on tor. DNScrypt and linux are probably the most important tools of all.
