The first few months as a new Product Manager can feel overwhelming. In this guide to surviving your first 90 days, you'll find tips and information on how to overcome the inevitable impostor syndrome, experimenting with your own product, the importance of networking, and creating a plan.

My first few weeks as a new Product Manager were really exciting… and overwhelming. At times, I felt lost. Impostor syndrome hit me hard and fast - Every couple of days I was asking myself if they did the right thing hiring me as a Product Manager, someone without any experience in PM. If you feel like I did, then this is a guide for you! And if you feel it can help a new PM in your org or a friend, then why not share it with them? 😉

Last summer I returned to my former Uni at 37, (re)taught myself college algebra over a few months, and completed the handful of math courses left in my B.A.

I’ve watched many of these videos as I’ve been completing a few pro certs in preparation for the job.

I would like to thank you for making this! It’s the most to-the-point, helpful, comprehensive, and easily watchable video I’ve seen.

You addressed actual concerns of mine. Coming from a position in film production and exp as a small business owner, I feel confident, but overwhelmed by imposter syndrome and anxiety as I rack up the rejection letters.

You made me feel confident and reminded me that my situation and feelings are not unique. After 200+ apps out and only a single interview… you’ve reinvigorated my motivation, sir.

Nobody seems to be interested in a 38yo new grad, with no direct experience a chance. Not even in the associate PM role… but I am determined to find the one who will give me a chance.

I’d like to add… I really liked how you presented the info in a informative and pleasant manner. You didn’t have any kind of ego whatsoever, even though I’m sure you’ve done great in you work.

You were genuine and not trying to scare people away by listing your accolades and making ppl question their own capabilities. The whole, “wi can do it because I’m amazing and dedicated, if you aren’t on my level, this probably isn’t for you.” Seems prevalent even when unintentional & often come with several humble-brags.

You also had great audio, a solid image quality. I have a hard time watching the webcams with bad audio and a thick accent & many of the other high quality prod value videos suffer from the aforementioned.

I know this was long, but credit where credit is due. I literally run on “atta boys” so hopefully this brings some positivity to your day.

I sincerely thank you!

Hi Diego! Thanks so much for the content, as someone super interested in data analytics looking to get into PM in the future, do you think that’s a viable route to take? You mentioned dealing with data every day and I feel like that would give me an edge. Thanks!!
