Basic fertility tips: Most couples trying to conceive will be successful within 1 to 2 years. A few basic tips as suggested by the British Fertility Society for all couples trying to conceive.
A BMI (Body mass index) of 19-25 is ideal. Eating healthy and exercising in moderation to lose about 5% if overweight helps in most cases.
Smoking (either partner), alcohol and caffeine should be avoided ideally.
Taking regular Folic acid and Vitamin D is important while trying.
Optimising any pre existing medical conditions like diabetes and thyroid problems and changing medications if needed is best done by the G.P. before trying.
Regular unprotected intercourse about 2-3 times a week is best. Using ovulation induction kits to predict ‘fertile period’ may induce stress and is costly.
