In case you want to select an edge loop instead. Make sure you're in edge selection mode. Select the next active like you would do with vertices. Go to the top of your UI under the menu bar you will find Select button between View and Mesh buttons. Click on it and look for Select Loops and choose Edge Loops or Ring Loops depending on the direction you want to go.

I used Control + / - to expand or contract a selection. Didn't know it allowed skipping vertices like that though!

That's a new one on me, I would've used checker deselect, but this seems quick and more intuitive, thanks.

Nice tip. Thanks. I tried to use this method with 2 segments (loops) of edges (using the alt key) and would only select the first next active edge and not the whole next active loop of edges. Is there a way to do that?

Hey, can you please make a tutorial on looping animations to be used later? Like placing it in different locations of the 3d area. Kind of like a graphic in Adobe animate.

This does not work if you have a cylinder with a cap fill type set to ngon. Triangle Fan works fine.

Hi mate. in blender 3.1.0 it does not work with vertices. what can I do?

if I manually select all the vertices one by one I don't give shift + ctrl + - deselectase, it works.

If I give sift + ctrl ++ it doesn't work.
