Blender Secrets - Grease Pencil Strokes to Mesh

If you’ve sketched a design on top of a curved surface using Grease Pencil, you can convert it to a Mesh outline in order to give you a headstart with retopology. It takes a few steps to set it up, which is explained in this video.

Wow, 1 minute tutorial but straight to the point, it beats all those crappy over 10 minutes tutorials that still didn't give you what you were looking for, I wish all tutorials could be as short as this, clear, and straight to the point, and no click bait.

I just use free Bezier mode, seems like less steps

I think there's a decimate option for grease pencil

It's neat but it just seems like normal modeling but with extra steps. You are better off just using vertices to make the shape, then extrude inwards and use grid fill and boom, you just got the exact same shape and with better topology

Okay. I believe I was trying to alter the grease pencil and not the path. I am so new to this and I was unaware I needed to actually click on the path. I am slow in some areas but it's just the way it is. Good video however.

Hummm, perhaps for other purposes works well, but for retopologyze I would start from the beginning with a hand-draw stroke as guide and creating polygons with the F2 technique over the surface. Too much steps which would turn the process hyper-tedious if you have 35 planks.
