What do physicians and stent companies have to say for themselves, given that they are promoting expensive, risky procedures, such as heart stents, with no benefit?

Thank you for this candid presentation of the research. You might get rather unpopular in certain circles! I wonder about other medical practices and procedures that are performed without sufficient evidence for their efficacy or at the very least where simple lifestyle changes would surpass excepted (and expensive) standards of treatment. Are stents never an appropriate treatment? I got them and during cardio rehab we were told the chance of dying from a “heart event” after stents was reduced by about 30%, but that if you change your diet and exercise after stents your chance of dying of a “heart event” is reduced by over 80%. So I changed my diet drastically, exercise daily and am in better health than I’ve ever been in my adult life. I had no symptoms of heart disease at all but only found out accidentally through a heart catheterization scheduled due to a stress test that showed cause for concern. It was done to rule out heart disease but they found my arteries 99% blocked! It seems to me that in my case stents were very helpful in keeping me from having a heart attack and allowed me to get back in shape and follow basically the Pritikin eating plan which I’ve stuck to but with even less meat than Pritikin allows.

This video is just in time. About angioplasty versus a stent or is it literally the same thing. Because I thought the angioplasty was could be in place of the stent. Is it better to have angioplasty than have a stent, if it is an critical type situation?

I am breathless on exertion. I will let you know if my condition improves after I have had an angiogram, with a possible stent, on Friday this week. If I live through it, that is.

It’s regrettable that anyone would suggest Doc’s paraphrasing the actual (and shown on screen) words in scientific study were either incorrect or evidence of malfeasance by Dr G. I guess any attention is good for business. This man never sold anything to me, nor asked for donations afaik
