If you are thinking of beginning a 10k training program, you most likely have been running for a while.

It's something that the beginning runner will not normally attempt, because they are not quite ready for this step and distance in their program.

With the 10k you are going to be challenged on your endurance and speed at which you can run.

It's more of a challenge than the 5k will give you but not quite up to the spot of where a marathon will give you.

In order to accomplish running a 10k you need to improve your running.

This means that you will need to add more pace to your running and there are ways that you can do this through training.

But you need to remember that there isn't a program that is one that will work for everyone out there.

You may need to make a few changes in the options that are set out to use.

The four steps that you need to work on will be the strength training, speed and endurance, plus tapering.

You need to be in shape to do these programs, and may want to make sure that you check out with a doctor before beginning them.

If you haven't established that you can reach the distance yet in your running, work on this first.

Adding each week a bit of extra mileage into your program. Don't do it too quickly but gradually you can build up the miles that you can run.

Remember that this is not something that should be attempted by a new runner.

You will take the chance of becoming injured if you advance too quickly. So start out slow and work your way up in each of those areas.

Patience is something that you will need when you are doing a 10k program so take the time and get in the best shape you can.
