Ive welded hundreds of joints on pipe with this wire and their other alloys (inco, 309, and chrome) You do not want or need to use it for the hot pass. Ive had a lot of joints pass RT with this. when welding pipe with it I run a loose 5/32-3/16 gap and back feed the bottom half, kinda hold it even with the bevels for the top half. when you prep the bead to close the root, do not grind as long of a ramp as normal or it will sugar. i keep it about 1/4" on the ramp. its pretty cool stuff to weld with, it just takes some time to get used to it. Also KEEP YOUR GLASSES ON, the slag will pop and fly off as it cools down.

Nicely done, thanks for explaining how you lift up a bit on tungsten when feeding. I have most of my issues when I'm adding filler so I think I that is the ticket so thanks again for explaining that 👍👍

I love me some solar flux wire. Only thing I would change about how you went about it is to take a flap wheel and buff the bevel edges and then take a file to the back. I had a friend of mine take 4 tests (not for a job but through an inspector) and the unclean pipe had slight slag inclusion because of the way the flux seeped into the space between the weld and the metal as the slight oxide layer burned off on the backside

Try Fi-back welding tape with your purge hose stuffed in there and then roll the other end to plug it. Works like a dream!

I did this on SS 304, 3 mm (1/8”). I use it as therapy and to become relaxed 🤓

The most important thing to remember about that rod is your gap can be no less than 3/32" and no more than a 1/4". Make sure you keep your rod on the edge of the puddle add on side to side edge of puddle just try it!! 80amps

Could that flux coated rod be used for 1.5mm super duplex or hyper duplex sheet where back purging is not possible without welding in a chamber? Thanks

I'm curious if this would be acceptable for pipe... I'm not sure how you'd clean the flux out of the roots

I would love to see you run this with no pedal. I use a on/off button on my torch some guys use lift ark. You cant use a pedal in the field. You could try but you will never get the work done.
