That’s actually great beginner advice for some reason nobody wants to explain their timing anymore. They just show you and expect you to copy without explanation

It's called work angle and you can do whatever motion you want as long as the puddle fills in as you like it basicly as long as you watch how your puddle moves you can really make any weld look good

the mig wire in a simple fillet weld should be aimed at tge centre of the two work peices. no wiggling no circles just pushed keeping a steady and consistent pool of weld.

Honestly everyone does it different I’ve seen people do wacky shit with a mig puddle and shit comes out great and passed tests. All I’m saying is working doing the job and always practice your technique and the flaws will disappear the more you do it

I alternate between a couple diffrent styles depending if its structural or is a pressure vessle

personally for myself, i found it blinding to push the puddle, i had a much easier time pulling and overlapping with each circle, gave me nice stacked dimes with good penetration 👍

As someone who has less than 100 hours under the hood. I've realized that the gauge of metal and your wire speed are more important than a technique. Yes I use a few different pull methods but as long as you're consistent the technique should not matter

I run my like 7018 fillet weld or sometimes like 6010 all depends on what I'm welding and the fit up everyone has their own technique

Everyone has different styles and settings. If I held it like that with what I’m welding on, it would eat through it, I have to point it to the side and push

The best technique is to practice and fine your own what works for you one maynot work for you practice, practice, you'll get speed, quality and visually better over time! Certain tips and tricks will help cuz not all wire or machines run the same

I luv mig welding with argon gas. Haven't did it in a long time but when i did. I did half moons back n forth.

Great technique. Notice how he hits the bottom and bounces back up but spends just a little more time at the top of the circle. That's what I do to fight gravity and reduce undercut

When running spray transfer, crank your heat up and whip fast and smooth. Beads come out like butter every time.

I do the reverse circle but moving the same way as you if that makes sense, I’ve found that prevents the weld from rolling most of the time.

You can do the circular motion you can do the zig zag or you can do the push-pull method

There's more then one way to go. So keep practicing.

Depends is it MG, short circuit or spray transfer?

I actually dont put any motion on the gun. Just a straight line and let it fill in. Of course this is one pass only. This is a good way to start because it makes you mindful of both plates.
