How to Remove Dust Spots in a Clip & Make It Look Good | FCPX Tutorial Dust Spot Removal Video

Показать описание
There are already a few different Final Cut Pro X dust spot removal videos on YouTube (I didn't know until after making this FCPX Tutorial video). However, after watching them, I realized they all left out one crucial piece to the puzzle: making it look good!!! Therefore I am providing you with the best way to remove sensor dirt from your clips in Final Cut Pro!
I had the same general formula as everyone else but found a different and better way to hide my sensor dust, sensor dirt, camera artifacts, dust spots, whatever-you-want-to-call-them, in my beautifully shot clip!
0:00 Intro
0:25 Open Final Cut Pro X
0:34 Duplicate clip by holding Option+Click Drag above main clip
1:00 Open Effects browser, select draw mask, drag onto top clip
1:07 Draw around dust spots
1:28 Feather draw mask, I did 77.
1:39 Select Gaussian blur effect in the effects browser. Drag and drop onto the top clip.
1:46 All done. No more sensor dust spots on your clip!
1:54 Outro
The reason why this dust spot removal how to FCPX tutorial video is so much better than the other methods is because it doesn't copy another area of the video clip causing weird brights, darks, or any other changes being pulled from a different area of your clip. In fact, it takes into consideration the immediate pixels surrounding the dust spot and blurs it into the rest of the clip. Effectively making it disappear beautifully and naturally.
I hope you liked this video and learned something from it. Did you find some resolve in applying this method to your clip? Or did you do something different all together? Please let me know what you did and if it worked for you below in the comment section below!
