Remove dust spots from video footage (premiere pro)

Показать описание
Just a quick video to share a technique that quickly removes dust spots from video footage using only premiere pro.

This technique is inspired by the 'clone' tool in Photoshop and uses just a single opacity mask to remove the dust spots.

Of all the suggestions from dust/object removal this is by far the best, don't understand why it gets so few likes. Short, to the point, clear, and functional...wish all tutorials were like this <3

Tried a couple of techniques but this is by far the simplest. Since most of my dust spots are most noticeable in the sky it makes it easier to mask panning shots (providing the mark stays in the sky and doesn't pass over a mountain or person). Excellent work and far less involved than other solutions. Thanks!

You can also shift the top layer, then just mask (without inverting) all the spots you need right in place, which works with multiple splotches.

This worked way better than the other videos I've watched. The premier pro dust/scratches thing sucks! You sir, just saved an entire video shoot!

That was extremely helpful! I had larger spots so what I added to this was creating a color background and adding the same color so that I could flatten out the original area. I then feathered it enough to blend with the surrounding area.

Thank you for this! I just recorded a whole set for a band and I hadn't discovered until I played the video on my TV that there was a huge dust spot on my mirror that bright and visible throughout the whole evening.

Thank you for posting this, and for your great idea. While I thought this would work, I don't know Premiere that well, and had trouble implementing it. Makes sense that the visual information slightly to the side of the spot is the same, and therefore a shift can hide the spot, but retain same colour and exposure. Other methods don't alter with video, and therefore you can see what has been used to hide the spot. Well done to you !!!!
