Certainly they could attack. But ya gotta wonder how many crosshairs are on each of those PRC targets. Don’t think Taiwan is just sitting back watching the pretty ships and planes flying around. Every time China practices, so does Taiwan!

They can do whatever they want, and no country can stop them. Taiwan is not a country and will never be one.

Cry Wolf enough times, and eventually no one wants to protect the ungrateful Taiwan. Because what has Taiwan done to be grateful for? Overfishing in other countries' economic zones by fishing vessels registered in Taiwan? They've done that.
