If Ukraine is any indication, people around the world will initially be upset. Politicians will make passionate speeches of support and the people will wear pins saying "we're with taiwan." After a few months, they'll forget about it.

I think that people are forgetting something. China never runs Drills that simulate combat. They run drills that simulate success. All their drills are a show for the higher-ups, when in reality, the Chinese NAVY has never been part of a major conflict since the later 1800s, and the PLA has last fought in 1979, where the Viet Cong, recently bloodied by the Vietnam war, gave them the same response they gave the US. China also spends more on INTERNAL security than it spends on nation defense, depending on who you ask. And the vast majority is made up of only-children, entire family lines at risk of being snuffed out.

That, and their economy might not survive a war, let alone the decade at this rate.

Does it matter if China invades, the White House said they don't support an independent Taiwan. That would make an invasion not our problem.
