while the 4090 has NEVER been a good budget proposition, I can personally confirm that it *is* a fantastic experience. I play modern AAA games with ray tracing on and graphics set to ultra and get a good 70-80fps. stuff like cyberpunk2077, a plague tale: requiem, Control, Dead Space, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, all play FANTASTICALLY. and I don't NEED my full 120fps with any of those types of games. these aren't twitch games, not esports titles, they're games that are designed to be cinematic and look fantastic, and they do, particularly when aided by the 4090's ray tracing. imo, don't buy a 4090 retail, if you want one, buy one used for a decent price, or indeed, wait until the 5090 (though that isn't likely to come out until the tail end of the year and average Joe's like us are unlikely to get their hands on one until q1 of next year so all depends on what you want to do. if I had the appropriate funds right now and didn't have anything, I'd hop on ebay, find myself a good deal on a used 4090, then buy the 5090 when it comes out, sell the 4090, and be happy.

RTX 4090 is great card if you ignore price and new connector issues. A lot of power and it doesnt overheat even in hot summer.
