Blender 3D - How FAST is the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 !?

Video card provided for free by NVIDIA Studio.

Is the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 the BEST card for Blender 3D!? I think so, this is the fastest card I've ever used. It's also the fastest card listed on the Blender 3D benchmark website. It's great for rendering, caustics, particles, and more. What do you think about this new card?

You should try sequences, the first frame is usually slowed down by the cpu

Looking at your viewport animations I noticed how different they look from your final renders. I would be very interested if you did a video on your post-production and editing, what effects do you use and especially how you use noise to make scenes more realistic

So anyone that haven’t updated in the lasts years. Now it’s a great moment to grab a 30 series. I’ll stick to my 3090 for some time

Watched your video and tested my dual 3090s set up against your numbers, at least for the files I had access to. Found in most cases that I was only a half a second to a full second slower in most rendered scenes, and had roughly the same viewport experience (cycle viewport took a couple of seconds longer to clean up fully, but transversal was equal). The bird rig also under cycles ran about 22- 24fps in the cycles viewport w/the background visible. Given the (un)availability of the new cards and price, the potential of having to upgrade an entire system including your case...maybe running a dual setup might be a better option than jumping on the newer cards. Card prices are low on the 3000 series, drivers are battle-tested, ample stock to be had, and heat can be controlled by undervolting.

THIS is what card was meant for. all these people out here buying up the card just to play fortnight on their i5 9600k is annoying.

I used to work 32-CoreThreadripper Workstations with 2080TI and then rtx 3090. Threadripper or even the new 7950X cpu and a 4090 is a match made in heaven especially if you work in tv or film. The real time rendering on Threadripper and EPYC on the cpu side alone is amazing and then the added benefits the 4090 brings is another level.

Would be kinda cool to see you and a few other Blend-tubers that have a 4090...and you guys really put one insanely heavy scene to the test. But the catch is....each of you guys would have to try and optimize it so that it renders faster than the other's. 🤷🏽‍♂️🤣

Just finally picked mine up a few weeks ago and have been benching it. It just chews through Blender renders for the most part and man, it's nuts! I'll release some benches of my own in another couple weeks.

What's the specs for your PC build? I know you were trying to jump straight into the video, but could you tell the viewers what are the specs for your PC Build? processor type? ram? Are you using liquid cooling or Air Cooling? I would like to know.

Thanks. Did you do comparisons between CUDA and optix (I mean the settings in the systems preferences). For me usually optix is faster I just found out that with the new hair curves system CUDA gives you faster renderes. Would be interested to know how the 4090 performs here?

planning to run a 4090 when i can get a fe card. I've got a 3090 on water right now. going to run both for blender use. It should be interesting to see what the viewport speeds are like lol

Help needed! I know you are rather artistic person and not a tech geek but I have just bought RTX 4090 and had some concerns about its speed. I downloaded demo scene you use at the video and my render times are:

Blender 3.3 splash (first shown in your video)
4090: 60 seconds (!!?!)
3080Ti: 47, 31 seconds
4090 + 3080Ti: 22, 89 seconds

Ice scene:
4090: 36, 66 seconds
3080Ti: 74, 49 seconds
4090 + 3090Ti: 26, 48 seconds

I used Blender 4.0.2 and I have processor AMD Threadripper 2990WX

Do you have any idea what may cause such a slow rendering times? It is really intriguing as the benchmark scores using Blender benchmark tools are quite ok for 4090: monster scene: 5255, junkshop: 2445, clasroom: 2453 (samples per minute) the benchmark score shown in the browser was: 10155.08 which seemed to be ok

Thank you very much for any kind of help!

Been looking to upgrade to a new build now that I'm starting to do a lot of 3D and VFX work... the 24 second render time sold me!!!! Putting a build together ASAP!

From what I've seen and heard about so far, the 4090 is a rendering beast. I have concerns about the connecting cables melting though. I've heard that the cables are too whimpy and can't handle the power load. What say you?

Ayo! Why that bird cheeked up like that?

Great video - thank you! What do you set your preferences to with the 4090? Cuda or Optix?

that was exactly what I needed, thank you so much

I would love to see simulation test both from blender and from houdini if possible, sculpting performance like how much polygon it can handle and does it have any effect at all ?

also, make clear for which cases cpu is necessary and for which cases gpu is necessay, thats a thing a lotta people dont know

On the first scene with a 1660 super I got 5m27s. With a 3060 12gb I got 1m34s. Both were done twice with persistent data so I could get numbers without the build time getting in the way. Everything else is stock.

It's all very impressive and all, but can it run CRISIS?
