Nvidia took note of what people were agreeing to pay during the shortage so they raised their prices accordingly.

Nvidia got a taste of big profits due to jacking up their prices because of the shortage, and they couldn't get enough. Hopefully AMD undercuts them and prices Nvidia out of the market. Who needs the best video card in the world if there isn't even a game out right now that can fully utilize it?

Nvidia is becoming the Apple of GPU's

I think the 40 series is so expensive _(and so laughably misrepresented, 2-4x performance and a 4070 pretending to be a 4080 indeed!)_ because they felt compelled to launch a new generation but still have a butt load of 30 series cards to sell after excessive production and the most recent collapse of the cryptocurrency market.

And then there's Europe, where a 3090 costs like a 4090 in the US and a 4090 costs like a pretty good used car (2500 Euros).

Nvidia's business practices have reached peak levels of being anti-consumer. Just imagine what would happen to that overinflated price if most people boycotted this generation…

The 4080 12gb is 100% a 4070, with a nearly 100% increase in price from the previous 70-lineup

Jensen literally got caught on a call saying he was planning to artificially inflate the value by holding back stock in the first two quarters. That's why they are so expensive.

We as a collective should just refuse to buy them for the first two quarters. Let him limit stock. We'll limit demand.

I also think RTX 4000 series pricing is intentional so that the high price tag will scare off and encourage people to buy RTX 3000 series instead and out of stock it goes. They might lower the MSRP before/ after AMD's GPU announcement to stay competitive because there is no way they can keep that insane price tag for long period of time...if they do, they are definitely greedy.

$1600 for the card. But to see the benefits, you need a $1000+ monitor.

Definitely going team red if I am going to build a new pc, probably gonna wait for pricing to drop and see what the 7000 series is gonna cost but I'm sick of Nvidia

Even inflation isn't as bad as it seems. Businesses are reporting record level profits, and for many, these are with margins that are at the highest they have been in over 50 years. This means they aren't just raising prices to deal with inflation, but well beyond that and they are simply price gouging us because they have the shield of "inflation" to hide behind while they do it.

Im just glad to see people are FINALLY fed up with Nvidias shit, hopefully this will be perfect for AMD and Intel to get market share (7600xt will likely be faster than 6900xt).

Also 6600xts are going for 200$ where i live, thats basically 5% better than a 1080ti WITH up to date drivers. Actually insane

Intel being legitimately crafty going after the 3060's performance max is an good move for peeps who'd prefer bang for the buck mid-range builds so I'm either on the 3000 series or Arc i5.

It is frustrating how almost every year we complain about companies doing bad practices, and we should stop buying. but people still buy from them, i think they are just learning that the threshold for what they can get away with is higher then they expected.

This is the reason why we need more GPU manufacturers, so that they can't get away with overpricing stuff.
Great example of this is the smartphone market, where you can more get bang for your buck because of competition

I really hope AMD kicks their teeth in with the Radeon announcement. I’ve got an NVIDIA gpu in my pc now, but their greed is just getting unreasonable.

No reasonable person/tech company would expect to be able to keep up with their Covid/mining era profits after both of those ships have sailed.

guys, the 12gb "4080" is the RTX 'Faux'ty 80.

Due to compression during the livestream reveal, the audio bugged out and you couldn't hear the right way Mr. Jensen actually pronounced it.

This pricing is EXACTLY why we NEED Intel to succeed and create more competition!
