My late husband had Lewy Body Dementia with Parkinson’s…the late stages of his progress came with the rigidity and tremors and he never really lost language, but did lose the ability to read. Thanks for this conversation and clarification.

It has been almost 5 years since my LOWD was officially diagnosed, and her Neurologist recently confirmed Parkinsons with Dementia?!
A lot of what was described makes sense and it appears that we still have a very long road to go!

Hello Dr Natali, I'm so glad you touched on this topic. My husband has parkinsons and has had the dbs( deep brain stimulation) treatment, it worked wonders for his tremors, I'm seeing the lack of interest, some attention lag, memory loss.. he is the backbone and has been the decision maker mostly but I need help bc I feel the bottom is pulling out from underneath me. I would love to hear more on this specifics.

I’m wondering if you could share information on the fvAD form of dementia. I find it difficult to get information on its progression symptoms and prognosis. Thanks you for your posts…very helpful.

I didn't know P. Dementia was a 'thing'. Not sure that term was around when my mom had it. (?)

But if PD not diagnosed until years later, they could develop PD dementia soon after or at same time as PD “diagnosis”

Is the challenge I’m currently having. Does my husband have PD dementia or Lewi Body dementia?
Anxiety began in 2010, depression 2015, and apathy around 2021. Motor skills noticed around 2020. So getting the timeline correct is crucial and the diagnosis.

It disturbs me that it is being ‘advertised’ that Parkinson’s patients get dementia, implying that many people with Parkinson’s have or will develop dementia! As a Parkinson’s patient, being diagnosed 8 years ago, I DO NOT HAVE DEMENTIA, and I resent being spoken to, as if I do have, or could be developing dementia! My neurologist has clearly stated to me that I have no dementia or cognitive declining symptoms. So, this generalized attitude of implying that Parkinson’s patients, in general, are in a cognitive decline, with dementia symptoms, needs to STOP! It is not fair to categorize Parkinson’s patients, and label them, in this manner!

I was DX with PD a few years ago and recently started experiencing rumination by repeating negative thoughts in my head about things I had said a few days earlier. My concern is PDD and was wondering if rumination is a symptom of PDD? Thank you.

Hi, my husband has Alzheimer’s and was recently told he also has Parkinson’s (right hand occasionally shaking difficulty walking/balance). Is there a connection between Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s? Does this mean his Alzheimer’s symptoms will progress quicker?
