They forget that people don't watch TV just in one place. My dad used to do "waking night shifts" - basically, a private carer staying awake all night in case the person they're caring for wakes up in need of assistance. After doing his tasks, he would sometimes watch Netflix films on his tablet to help him stay awake.
But oh, coming soon, he wouldn't be able to do that because he was 20 miles away from my parents' home address
