1: data is provided by Netflix themselves
2: they just released lots of new shows
3: free trial memberships

Other companies are absolutely gonna see the profit Netflix made and do the same thing.

Hol up they said *accounts* but did they say *paying accounts* because if not I'd wager we're gonna see some sort of reversal once those trial memberships end...

Nah their BS strategy actually worked 😭

Goddammit, what happened to forcing streaming services to be at least slightly more convenient than piracy if they want to survive smh

Nah man, something seems fishy about this.

buried lede: a much smaller percentage of users were password sharing than what they led investors to believe, so by end of year the company's going to massively miss its goals

Then those people will start leaving when they start pumping out trash shows and movies because they won’t pay their writers

Netflix charged my account for an additional user for a tv in my home in my kids room. When I called customer service they scolded me about password sharing…… it was my kids room 40 feet from my main tv.

I'll wait to see a quarterly earnings report.

Something tells me it’s more complicated than Netflix is letting on. Let’s see if it’s sustainable.

If that data is coming from Netflix I'd be suspect. Everyone I know who's been affected by it has just decided to ditch Netflix. If there is any spike I don't expect it to last

NETFLIX NET WORTH: May 2023- $125B, JUNE 12, 2023- 188.47B. This is what I hate about companies like this, and our society as well… they didn’t NEED to end password sharing, the business is no where near struggling. Its a way to squeeze more money out of the consumer. Netflix could give each employee (they have 11k) $100, 000 and still have billions, but I imagine the very few corporate humans at the top are getting most of the benefit. Gotta love greed.

I'm shocked so many people stayed after what netflix did. This was my 13th reason I'm never going back.

Give it a few months. Many people may have jumped on to finish shows they were already invested in watching. I'm presuming there is the free trial period like here in Australia.

Wow. I didn’t think this play would work even remotely, but I guess Netflix isn’t quite replaceable enough yet.

Their hubris was, sadly, seemingly justified.

They gon have a rude awakening once those free trial periods end lmao
