Lena telling her story about her life and its parents, Lena sat on her bed, staring at the letter she’d found hidden in her mother’s drawer. It was a letter from an adoption agency. She felt a wave of shock and betrayal wash over her. How could her parents keep this from her?
That evening, during dinner, she couldn’t hold it in any longer. Why didn’t you tell me I was adopted? she blurted out, her voice trembling.
Her parents froze, the color draining from their faces. Lena, her mother started softly, we wanted to tell you, but we were afraid. We didn’t want you to feel different, or unloved.
Tears welled up in Lena’s eyes. But I trusted you! How can I trust anything you say now?
Her father reached out, his voice thick with emotion. We made a mistake, but we love you. You’re our daughter, and that will never change.
Lena stared at them, her heart torn. She loved them, but the trust was broken. I need time, she whispered, and left the table, unsure if things would ever be the same again.
