I was there last week in Williamsburg Brooklyn it was downstairs in all these different restaurants like a restaurant flea market and the sandwich we had was the brisket but they cut it in four so we could each have a piece and then we walked around and got a few other things and shared everything that's the best way to do it it was expensive I'd say 2395 for a sandwich I was like wow I mean I would never ever really do that again except it was a pleasure to be there and eat their food was incredible

In case some of the people watching this want to try this, they ship to the lower 48. We got some of their pastrami mail order this year, and it was worth the high prices ($38/pound, free shipping over $100). The pink color is from the pink curing salt not the doneness, so people who don't want rare meat don't have to worry. They cure it for a couple of weeks in the salt, then add a rub and smoke it for a couple of days, then boil it a few hours, then steam it. My mouth is watering thinking about this...

I found the description of Katz's legendary pastrami as "a nice medium or medium rare" hilarious. The red color comes from long brining, curing with curing salt and spices, and smoking, not medium or medium rare cooking. Katz's is unique in that it cures cuts from the navel (not the brisket as with most other pastramis) which are then cooked long, low and slow way past medium to almost fall apart doneness.

It's not medium / medium rare lol it's red from the curing process. That beef is cooked for hours.

Meat butter! No teeth needed...I order the 5lbs whole pastrami to my home every year. I don't know hot those cutters cut it at the deli because it is very delicate.

I think I'd have to try that pastrami, since they're known for it, but that brisket did look pretty darn good too😊
