It’s quite literally just a three dimensional space being perfectly projected and recreated onto a flat surface. Theoretically, even the other room will exist in the reflection, you just can’t see it, same way you can’t see the other room in your normal space. Calling this an “optical illusion” is asinine.

For kids - it is not optical illusion, it is conceptual illusion.
You see it exactly as you can measure it by ruler or photoshop, so it is not passing as optical illusion.
But something makes you intuition think it shouldnt be like that - so it is conceptual illusion.

But reflection itself it is optical EFFECT, and this case is one of its expressions.

So what your seeing is light being reflected off the thing thats behind the paper from all directions and one of those reflections are really close into the mirror and what your seeing is bounced back into your eyes
