This is wild...Vader's thoughts on if Obi-Wan never followed Padme to Mustafar to confront Anakin Skywalker...I truly believe, as Vader says, that Anakin would have gone with Padme and eventually defeated Palpatine.

Padme specifically stated that she was not going to be with him anymore...he was too far into the darkside...Padme tried multiple times to reason with anakin but it was clear palpatine's influence ran deeper than his love for Padme, each time rejecting her pleas for the darkside!

Assume obi never shows up - are we to think that anakin would have just let padme leave him (like she said she was going to do?)? He had already rejected her and their child for the darkside. She announced it was over, that she wouldn't go. Honestly, I think ultimately, Anakin would have killed her instead of letting her leave him. The chances of padme deciding to go with Anakin (after she already said she could never and anakin was literally breaking her heart) and then them fighting Palpatine are WAY LESS than anaking killing padme on his own. IMHO.

Great video! Thank you.

He just said he would “make” her understand…that’s maximum abuse coming from a guy who just killed all of his friends. He really was hypnotized by the dark side at that point. I can’t imagine that it would’ve gone “better” if Padmé kept talking to him. It would’ve been different for sure, but she would’ve been killed by Sheev anyway.

Vader on Mustafar never really control his arrogance when fighting Kenobi, but its sad that he could've listened which led him to lose his potential.

This is sort of why I wish they'd do some animated 'What If' scenarios for Star Wars the way Marvel did. It would be so interesting to see how canon could be twisted into different circumstances with different outcomes than what is known in the films. I'd much rather see something like this than more series and films tearing down already established and well-loved characters.

I think that Padme was a few syllables away from her husband force-choking her out on a volcano planet whether or not Obi showed up 😬🤷🏾‍♂️

I don’t think padme would ever side with Anakin after what he had done, there was no convincing her, she was a good person and he was a monster.

The part where he says "I would have *made* her listen" doesn't indicate he had any control of the situation at all. It indicates that he would have forced her to see things his way and that was the only way. So even had Obi-Wan Kenobi not shown up; things still would have went south between he and Padme because her ideals and what she stood in her political role were completely against what Anakin was striving for with this nee tyrannical empire. Simply put, Bro was too far gone to see that.

I don't think Padme was going to forgive all and just go with Anakin.
Also, Anakin wasn't going to stop now because, remember he's doing it for her, to keep her alive. He really believes its the only way to "save her" even though she tried to convince him she'll be fine earlier in the movie.
Without Obi, I think neither will budge, Anakin lashes out due to the dark side and somehow kills her unintentionally.

Hey Theory. I recently lost my mom and she always loved Star Wars so much. I would always play your videos breaking down the mandolorian for her. Just wanted to thank you for all the amazing Star Wars content you put out. I love it. And she did too. ❤️

I love the plan to have more classic content on the channel! I like the new stuff as well, but to me this is the heart of Star Wars Theory.

My take is that Anakin's finale turning point was before going to meet Mace Windu in Palpatine's office. The music when he is in the Jedi council room is so different from what is in a Star Wars film, yet it has echoes of the ROTJ finale battle when Luke starts unleashing anger on Vader. Music gives us clues as to what is going on, the first turn to the dark side test ritual was Anakin killing Count Dooku, he passes it, the next is in the opera house when Palpatine tells Anakin about Darth Plagueis and keeping people from dying, again we get this hum chanting music, the air dancers also look like they are sperm penetrating an egg, are thy giving birth to Darth Vader? Anakin gets OCD about this and starts to see a path using the Dark side to expand his powers from keeping Padme from death, like his mother. I would also argue that Mace WIndu had a lot to do with why Ankain turned on the Jedi and in that could be the real trigger for the rise of Darth Sidious. Mace Windu seems to get overlooked a lot in being the person that triggered the rise of the Empire and the death of the old Jedi order. Its Ironic that Mace Windu in wanting to prevent the fall of the Jedi, may have triggered it with his distrust of Anakin. I think that had Mace Windu first let Anakin on the council as a Jedi master and then said lets go take Palpatine down together, Anakin would not have had that final moment of debate and it would have offended Anakin's internal code of loyalty to ever let harm happen to Mace Windu. Also Mace Windu did a disservice going into that chamber without Anakin, to those poor other Jedi with him, not knowing what kind of powers this Sith Lord had. No I have a lot of problems with Mace Windu and he was like this from the start with Anakin, first thing he says is the boy is to old to take Jedi training, that is a lie, we know that is a lie from the traditions of others who come in later into training. Yoda, Mace Windu and Obi Wan form this triumvirate of Jedi power around Anakin that unfortunately as much as Yoda I think meant well ended up turning Anakin to the dark side in the end, for nothing other then not ranging in Mace Windu's egotistical ideology, and people can spin around it forever but at the end of the day Mace Windu is egotistical about the force. Ahsoka Tano's trial clearly was his deciding vote expelling her, exposing the fall of the Order from within, I think after that Anakin lost respect for the council and looked at Yoda, Mace Windu and Obi Wan as tainted.

I think by the time that Anakin got to Mustafar he was too far gone. And even before that, even in the Clone Wars Anakin honestly had a TON of red flags as a partner. I like to think he'd have been a good father, cause Ahsoka Tano is proof that he can raise someone to be better than he was, but there were still signs of him being possessive of her as well as controlling. And my BIG red flag for Anakin as a partner, is the Clovis arc.

Anakin, despite Padme protesting, BEGGING him to stop, attacks Clovis, was ready to murder him with his saber, and nearly beats him to death with his own hands. Not to mention, during the fight he shouts at her "YOU DON'T HAVE A SAY IN THIS." Listen if ANYONE ever told you that, then you just need to DIP. Sure he was horrified at his actions later, but Padme herself stated "I don't even know who you are anymore." after too. She was seeing the signs, then too. I think honestly, though it pains me to say it, Anakin is the "if I can't have you no one will" type. Because his abandonment issues were never properly addressed, he can't stand the thought of losing those close to him (Ahsoka, Rex, Obi-Wan, Padme). And that can lead him to obviously take drastic actions to keep them protected.

Anakin’s fate was sealed not at one specific moment in time, but dozens of times throughout his life. The Clone Wars and the trauma it caused ensured Palpatine would have a fearful and angry apprentice.

Hard to imagine Palpatine NOT taking the kids hostage to control the couple.

It’s definitely interesting to picture our own visions of what could have been especially when we have source material to help us create the vision

There’s a super interesting Anakin/Vader analysis on the channel Cinema Therapy. A film maker and a therapist discuss movies and characters and in an episode they discuss Anakin and his upbringing and how he became Vader, what could have been done differently to save him. Y’all might find it interesting!

Obi-Wan didn't notice that Anakin had married Padme after Geonosis or that Padme was pregnant with his child if he had then maybe Anakin would have confided in Obi-Wan and his fears would not have piled up until siding with Palpatine seemed like the only way to save Padme.

Yoda also failed Anakin by telling him he should accept that he may not be able to change the future he foresaw of someone he cared about dying. Interestingly Yoda later made that same mistake with Luke since Yoda was only looking at the bigger picture of galactic peace so much that he did not understand the emotions of those who had people they cared about enough to risk not only their own lives but the fate of the galaxy on. Sort of like how Nico Robin turned herself over to CP9 because as long as the other 6 Straw Hats she loved were safe she did not care that it might cause the world to be destroyed...

But I think Mace Windu was the worst since he openly said he did not trust Anakin and left him out of the arrest of Palpatine. If Anakin had arrived then maybe some of the other Jedi would have survived and they could have persuded Mace to arrest Palpatine instead of executing him which is what made Anakin panic and lash out against Mace. Well Mace should have stopped and called Yoda and the rest of the council as soon as he got Anakin's report about Palpatine being a Sith instead of rushing off but that is another story...

Anyway the Jedi leaders really did fail Anakin in one way or another. But Palpatine was counting on those mistakes and took advantage of them to twist Anakin's heart. It is a sad story we all should learn from!

I hadn't thought of some of the points you made, like if Obi-Wan had just let Anakin speak what was on his mind, maybe Obi-Wan could've swade him back to the light side. I haven't read any of the books, so I would never had guessed that Anakin was still himself to a degree even after all of the killing. If he and Padme had tried to overthrow the Emperor, that would've made for a very heated and crazy battle. It's crazy to think about really.

Man, Luceno's books are amazing. I also love Tarkin as well, and it's such a shame that he and the rest of the Lucas era writers have been replaced by Disney writers.
