Thank you Dr. Marc and Dr. Becky for sharing this helpful information

I am not a parent but would like to be one, so I found this episode to be useful to my future self.

My takeaways:

1. Doing Nothing.
2. Mantras are important – “I am safe, this is not an emergency, I can cope with this”
3. Visualise your child performing the task that is difficult for them.
4. The power of impermanence appears in this video as well - a five year old’s behavior is not indicative of a fixed personality. Love this!
5. Thanks Dr. Becky for sharing with us what a hopeful manager/boss sounds like with the scripted response to an employee with time management difficulty.
6. I was amazed at the comment about how parenting is not natural and the idea of having a “maternal instinct” is a problematic expectation. The huge eye-opener is how under-resourced parents are in the world and if they are provided with resources they would feel sturdier enough to be good listeners and have empathy and compassion for their kids. Those resources could be in the form of emotion skills.
7. I also really found the idea of emotionally intelligent parenting being about "re-allocation of time" quite powerful. If a parent makes time for the emotional work there is less recovery time from both parent and child during challenging moments and tasks could be completed with less emotional repercussions.

This was very empowering! I hope parents watch this!
