Hey Matt, thanks a lot for taking your time with this, and the up close angles. I hate the "show it one time" and then fast forward mode of video so I'm very glad you showed each string. Locking tuners are a revelation!

Wow what a clear way to present this. Thanks for clearing up the adding slack issue when you apply tension to the string - no need to place a finger or two under string when feeding it thru the post. Locking tuners are designed to take less turns and, well, lock in immediately. Also, it is a very good idea to check if these locking tuners are indeed tight when you are going to play your PRS because, I noticed anyway, with the lock screws on TOP sometimes they get loose and you just need to tighten them with your fingers. The ones with the lock screw on the bottom, like the Sperzels, seem to hold better. If it comes loose them the string pops out and is hard to get it back again.

I've seen some PRS factory videos that recommend having a 3/4 wrap around the brass post because it helps the tone. They don't recommend pulling it tight and locking it down. Leaving enough slack for a 3/4 wrap is the preferred method. In my conversations with PRS customer service Sean Littleton confirmed this.

PRS recommend 2 fingers at nut stacked on top of each other, string over the top of them and in to the tuner. Leaves about inch and a bit. string excess over top as you tighten the machine head.

I use to do same way as you, but I get why PRS do that. I’ve noticed I don’t have to tune it as much.. stops a bit of slipping.

I just bought a PRS CE24 yesterday (yay me!). My first one with these tuners.
With such a small amount of wrap around the tuner, how well does it cope with alternate tunings?
Thanks

Thanks for this video. I was wondering does the locking tuners do anything else than just making it easier to restring? Does it help the guitar hold the tune better? When you use the whammy bar would it still stay in tune?

Was this a floating bridge? I have a PRS SE standard and I've heard that you can damage your guitar if you don't put a block under the bridge but it doesn't look like you did that here? Can I take all my strings off at once without damaging the guitar?

I just changed the strings on my PRS CE24 and used the same size and type of strings to replace the old ones, but now the action is a bit higher. The neck seems perfectly straight too. Would you have any idea what might be happening?? Any help or suggestion is truly appreciated!

Why were there more wraps on the strings you took off? There were 2 or 3 wraps on each post. When you put on the new strings you had less than one wrap.
