The 245 refers to scale length which is 24.594. The McCarty model and the SC 245 I believe to be the inspiration for that model. I also think PRS has a dedicated facility at CoreTek for the SE line. Now that PRS has McCarty SE I think they're discontinuing the SE 245

Those strings are made by PRS here in the US using a unique alloy not available for other manufacturers (as of May 2023) and the company wants to seriously compete in that department.

The special alloy keeps the strings straight which is supposed to help the guitar intonation by eliminating the common "spring effect" we see with strings made using traditional alloys.

According to Paul Reed, all new PRS guitars are now being shipped with PRS strings.

The SE are some of the best guitars for the money. Sold my 245 to upgrade to something else, it wasn't gone long before I got the Zach Meyers to replace it. That one is a beauty

So I got myself a PRS SE 245 after watching this. Stunning quality, very similar to the one in the video – thanks for documenting your work in such detail, much appreciated. Did you put 10s on it because of the short scale? Apparently these used to come from the factory with 9s on.

That is beautiful! I have one coming from a guy in Colorado, bought it via Reverb for $404 + $25 shipping, with PRS gig bag. Pictures show some chipping on the bottom end but I think I can fix that up easily enough. Really looking forward to it as last week I bought an older one, made in Korea with a nice maple top and two of the PRS P90s. It sounds great and this one should too. I really like what they did with the bridge on this one.

Thanks for the great video!

I think what you have there is the 245 Standard (all mahogany). I have the one that is called just 245. Mine has a Maple top (with flame maple veneer on top of that), no binding on the neck, and the exposed maple edge around the body, which has the appearance of binding. It's a really nice guitar, i wouldn't mind getting another one. Its a 24.5 inch scale length. Hence 245.

Another beautiful guitar brought back to life! I wonder what happened to the frets. It does seem odd that only the frets got corroded but none of the screws/hardware or other parts showed signs of corrosion.

When I see a prs guitar I always think of guitar legend Santana

If that guitar came from a coastal area and there is any copper in the fret wire, it's probably galvanic corrosion.

My opinion- the SEs are consistently great, especially fit and finish. I don’t care for the stock pickups but otherwise fantastic guitar. I have one of the first issue Santana SE models

The 245 is 24.5” scale length. Just like how the 594 model is 2.594” scale length.
I would guess the discolored frets are from the previous owners sweat. Some metals actually cause my skin to turn green. Like my glasses arms leave a line on my temples from the metal.

Question: i have this exact same guitar, is there any reason i couldnt put a set of 8 gauge strings on it? I figure ill have to readjust the intonation, but is there anything else?

I belive that is an upgraded bridge. I dont think the stock one is adjustable with brass
