Foam Roller Stretches for Recovery (Full-Body Self Massage Exercise) // Caroline Jordan //

Use this full-body self-massage video to help you see better results in the gym.
If you’re planning on including some active recovery time in your training so that you can perform better, this foam roller stretch routine will help you achieve your goals!

This foam roller stretches video was sponsored by Pretty Little Thing X Active. I love my new workout wear and am grateful to be outfitted in such fashionable clothes to sweat in! Here's what I'm wearing in this video:

The foam roller is a type of self-myofascial release tool in which pressure is applied to certain body parts to relieve pain. In my Strong Body coaching program, I have members schedule active rest days and recovery activities so that their bodies can let go of cortisol and see greater results from training. When I talk about scheduling rest days into your workout routine, I'm not always referring to total rest.

Active recovery is any type of movement that keeps the body in motion without causing stress to the muscles, bones, and connective tissues. It could include low-impact movements like brisk walking, yoga, water-based activities, and foam rolling (self-massage). Purposeful exercises like controlled breathing and meditation are active recovery options you can work into your schedule every day to relieve stress, improve cardiovascular health and build mental resilience.

Remember training STRESSES the body out. In order to see real results, you have to let GO of that stress with active rest and recovery techniques. This total body foam roller stretches routine will help you achieve your recovery goals and get the rest you need to succeed.

In this foam roller stretches exercise video you will massage all of your muscles from head to toe.

IF YOU ARE NEW TO FOAM ROLLING BE AWARE: foam rolling involves applying pressure to areas of built-up tension (or trigger points) and it might feel slightly uncomfortable at first. This is completely normal and means that you should start by applying only some of your body weight as you roll (i.e. use your hands and another leg to control the pressure). Also, foam rolling can at first feel like a workout in itself because you will need to shift and hold your body in new positions in order to target the right muscle groups!

For best results, make regular foam rolling a consistent part of your daily life. Just a few minutes makes a big difference! Do a few of these foam rolling exercises for a couple of minutes each day and you’ll see improvements in how you feel and perform. I made this video so you can use it often to feel better, move better, and live better! I hope it's a routine you come back to for healthy, happy muscles.

Love rolling with you. ❤

I just need to say thank you! I'm 25 and a full time dance teacher and I've been getting out of bed every day for years with so much pain I could hardly walk. I have such bad plantar fasciitis in both my feet I can't even put my heels down on the ground some days. I've just been so focused on my students (telling them to roll out lol) that I haven't taken the time or had the time to do it for myself and I haven't had the financial means to go to a PT. I would roll out sometimes but only certain muscles and I was never great with being consistent with it. I decided to set myself to roll out my whole body consistently last week and that's when I found your video. The first time I did it I was almost crying in pain because I'm so tight everywhere all the time #iamashambed lol I do not know how to take care of myself. No joke though, for the last two days I've gotten out of bed with almost no pain. The pain from my plantar fasciitis is subsided like 90% and it's been years since that was the case. I literally could cry. You don't even know how much this has actually changed my life. I feel like I can start dancing again myself because I can actually move again. THANK YOU :)

Thank you so much. This is the best foam roller workout ever. The 2 minute rolling intervals really allowed muscle release. I'm definitely doing this one frequently!

This was amazing! Recovery is so underrated. I used to think I was lazy if I took a day off from the gym. Now I know that for me, less exercise works better.

I just want you to know I wake up with sore shoulder blades and neck pain every morning. I’ve gone to a chiropractor and it helped for awhile but during the pandemic I stopped. I carry a lot of stress in my shoulder blades and I have knots there. I can barely work out but my traps looks like I’m an avid athlete 😂 anyways Im really trying to take better care of my body and although I do exercise, I haven’t really stretched or worked on releasing tension. Doing this routine my body is so relaxed and my neck and shoulder blades…. Feel like they’re in heaven. Thank you. I will be doing this 3x a week
