Piandao doesn't get enough credit in the retaking of Ba Sing Se. He's a non-bender, fighting against firebenders superpowered by the comet, and he's WINNING. Dude is an absolute badass.

The Agni Kai still remains one of the coolest, best choreographed fights in fiction man. So peak.

It’s so quick to yell “kill him!” But we always forget that he’s 12! And a monk who grew up to never harm. You can’t just turn those ideals away. The war within himself is so beautifully executed.

Avatar doesn't have haters. There are only the people who love it and the ones who haven't seen it.

I really like how it was shown that Azula really went crazy. Usually in a fight her movements are precise, she is a strategist, but now her movements are chaotic and untied. That's what Zuko noticed

The music in this show doesn't always get enough credit. The music in the final Agni Kai is incredible

A lot of people give Aang a hard time for not killing Ozai. But there's ONE line from Ozai that I think solidifies WHY Aang was in the right to spare him.
“You’re weak, just like the rest of your people. They did not deserve to exist in this world, in my world! Prepare to join them. Prepare to die!”

That line alone, shows us what a lot of the in universe characters think of the Air Nomads. That even though they helped out other nations, stayed out of conflict, and often revered...Not only do people in the real world see them as WEAK for being nonviolent, and choosing peace over war....People in universe saw them as weak too. Ozai saying they didn't deserve to live in his world, shows us why Aang had to be the better man. It could've been done a bit better, but Aang had something to PROVE to not just his friends, but the WORLD that what he stands for, what his PEOPLE stood for MATTERED. And that they weren't WEAK because of it.

If Avatar Aang had killed Fire Lord Ozai...it truly would've been the death of the Air Nomads. Aang would've been the one to fundamentally wipe them from existence. Not to mention, when it comes to taking one's bending, I'd say that's a worse punishment for a bender than death. You're stripping part of their identity away. Katara had to convince Aang not to use it willy nilly in the comics, for that very reason; Aang might not be killing their physical self...but by taking one's bending he's essentially killing their spiritual core. Their soul.

I love that Aang’s true battle isn’t with Ozai, but instead himself. Do his beliefs no longer belong in this world? Does he save the world but destroy what’s left of his culture to do so? He’s able to overcome evil with his pure heart, indomitable will and unbending spirit. He fulfills his destiny not only as the Avatar, but also as the Last Airbender.

The way Sokka protects Toph always warms my heart ❤️

The best part about the Agni Kai is that Zuko is applying what Iroh taught him. He is literally using the technique from other bending styles and applying it on his fire bending throughout the fight.

I loved how Aang learned 3 bending techniques that no other avatar knew.

Lightning re direction, discovered by Iroh.
Blind sight, discovered by Toph.
And energy bending, taught by the Lion Turtle.

Not even the Avatar state could use any of these techniques as no previous Avatar could.

Btw. This is a "kids show". Everyone was literally at the edge of the couch all focused on what was happening.

This just goes to showcase two things, a good "kid's story" can be appreciated by everyone, a bad one is only for kids, and finally, ATLA is peak media. Its a timeless masterpiece that stands tall as a perfect story. I can watch it so many times and I'll never grow tired o it. Season 3 is the best animated show of all time.

To this day, Ozai burning his cape and flying to Aang is one of the toughest flexes of a main villain

Everyone talks about how Zuko's evolution and growth is one of the best stories in Avatar. Not enough people talk about how Azula's slow devolution and fall into loneliness, insanity, and despair is one of the best villain story arcs in fiction that DON'T involve their redemption. Love that her downward-spiral mirrors Zuko's rise and also reflects everything he gains that she loses: A relationship with their mother, friends that don't fear him, and to add insult to injury she even sees herself get replaced as a "sister" by Katara immediately after her humiliating defeat. That's the wail of someone who just realized she's truly lost everything. Her fall mirroring Zuko's rise while striking the perfect balance of pitiable, yet still irredeemable is perfect for a show that's all about maintaining balance.

Katara did not go through 6 guys 😂😂 she had a crush on jet for a day. And she never wanted to think about her feelings with Aang cause the world was in peril and it was not the time for romance. I’ll take no katara slander here lol

The thing with Azula is that she’s just as much of a victim as Zuko is but in different ways. Her mother clearly favored Zuko but because her father favored her, she never had the chance to be anything than like him. Except she isn’t. She’s a kid who really wasn’t loved by either parent. Ozai never loved his kids. They were just his pawns

They really popped off with the last two battles. Love how they did Azula vs Zuko, the score they used was phenomenal, rather than an epic final clash it felt more tragic, which it is.

This reaction was so, so sweet. Especially for Cannon, Carter and Addie, you can tell this show is so special to them. Hoping we will get to see the girls again for another series.

May we appriciate that Ozai was voiced by none other then the great Mark Hamil. The iconic voice of Joker..

Love the duality between Addie and Maddie’s faces during Azula’s defeated screaming and crying. Addie who has already seen the show and knows this is a tragic moment not a happy one. Azula’s story is tragic she’s just a kid turned into this monster by her upbringing who ends up failed, lonely, and miserable. And her own brother had to bring her down after being pit against each other since birth by their father. And then there’s Maddie who hasn’t seen it before and is just hyped to see her lose lol

I love the development in Tai Lee — she was always sad about being part of a “matching set” in her family but now she feels right at place with the Kiyoshi Warriors (who are literally marching) 😂
