Funny you said that, in a behind the scenes the creators and Nickelodeon did to further promote the show, the creators had stated that all the bending are based on real life martial arts styles.

Earthbenders in general use a combination of Tiger and Crane.

Toph's Earthbending, however, is based on the Mantis Style

I love the episode "The Blind Bandit." Great episode that introduces an amazing new character. Toph as well as her bending style are awesome. The next one, Zuko Alone, is also an amazing episode. In fact, the rest of the season from here on out really cooks.

I've always thought that the animation at 20:16 was so damn cool. I'm fairly sure the episode won awards for choreography and animation as well.

For Toph, it's not that Aang is really quiet, even if someone was completely silent she'd be able to tell they were there. She does use sound, yes, she listens very closely, but she sees with Earthbending. She can feel them through the ground/earth or stone, and when Aang uses his air to levitate there's no way for her to feel his presence besides feeling the air and listening

Sokka's hat is real. The hat is called a wushamao (乌纱帽) and was traditionally worn by government officials and civil servants in Imperial China. In Sokka's case, he's taking on the persona of a public investigator; more specifically, he's likely referencing China's most famous investigator: Bao Zheng (包拯).

Easily one of the more anticipated episode of season two.

One small point i i don’t se commented in on is that Toph can predict where an attach is going by the way someone lines up there feet.

You see this in her fight with Fire Nation Man. There is a slow motion focus on his foot moving into position as he prepares his strike. Toph moves out of the was of where it was going. And then strikes back.

Tooh isn’t just over powered ro be over powered. She has smart strategy as well as skill. And then she beats everyone up
