Psalm 82 - Earthly Judges Before the Great Judge

Psalm 82 is a psalm of Asaph and “...takes us in a few words behind and beyond our present wrongs, to portray God’s unbounded jurisdiction, his delegation of power, his diagnosis of our condition and his drastic intentions.” (Derek Kidner)

My reading of this (11:07) is that anyone who stands in judgement of others or has power over them will be held accountable which, to my mind, also includes people of status in our churches such as those doing the hiring or discernment. Also I have been using this platform less as it counts likes and views. I hope to find you on GodTube as these videos have great value.

David is incorrectly applying a very western and modern understanding to Psalm 82. Psalm 82 and John 10 clearly reference spiritual beings. In John 10, Jesus has just been accused of being demon possessed and John tells us the event takes place during the feast of dedication, a feast which celebrates the removal of demon worship from the temple. Jesus uses Psalm 82 to point out that to the jews that "You know there are other beings that are more powerful than humans. And they are rightly referred to as gods (Elohim) I know about them too, and I'm greater than they are. I will judge them because I created them. I am God."

I think Dr. Michael Heiser is spot on with his expert analysis regarding Psalm 82. These are sons of God, just as we who are to be saved are also called, the sons of God. They are above the angels, who have different roles than do the sons of God. It also says, because of their failure to do God's will, they will someday die like men! Earthly judges, humans, are already men, so clearly the sons of God are lesser Elohim, who have immortality solely based upon their obedience to God, and through God's will alone. They were created by Him, they also can be destroyed by him, Psalm 82 is very clear on this. The disobedient sons of God will "die like men", come judgement day, in the lake of fire prepared for them.

There is a logical fallacy in this teaching (Michael Heiser thoroughly debunks the “earthly judge” interpretation). “Elohim” is the “software.” Human bodies are the “hardware.”

It gives no glory to YHWH to say He is the “God of gods” if there are no such thing as other gods.

You will have to answer these questions in order to make this “human judges” theory coherent.

1. Who were the Watchers and what was/is their nature.

2. Who/what are the archangels (Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, and Uriel)?

3. Who/what is Satan, the nachash, and the other “fallen angels?”

Unless these questions can be answered, this “human judges” interpretation doesn’t hold water.

Contexual scriptural exigesis dear brother.

Another scriptural point is that.

1. Our Lord would not use Lucifer and the rest that followed him (comdemned to eternal punishment) to be judges of the affairs of humans. Thats Is a given, and easy.

2. He did not use the angels that DID NOT LEAVE, BUT KEPT THEIR FIRST ESTATE EITHER, BECAUSE IF HE DID, THEN THE ANGELS SINNED IN JUDGING WICKEDLY. THEN WE WOULD HAVE A RECORD OF THEM BEING COSIGNED TO THE LAKE ALSO.

3. OUR BROTHER MICHAEL IS IN FULLNESS OF JOY AND PLEASEURES FOREVER MORE with Christ. AND he WAS immediately and ALREADY CORRECTED BY OUR MASTER WHEN he Got in Jesus' presence.

4. Elohims on grammer, context, and only Lord Jesus' word are humans.
