Hangman lives in the danger zone. See Glen Powell in #TopGun: Maverick, only in theatres May 27.

After more than thirty years of service as one of the Navy’s top aviators, Pete “Maverick” Mitchell (Tom Cruise) is where he belongs, pushing the envelope as a courageous test pilot and dodging the advancement in rank that would ground him. When he finds himself training a detachment of Top Gun graduates for a specialized mission the likes of which no living pilot has ever seen, Maverick encounters Lt. Bradley Bradshaw (Miles Teller), call sign: “Rooster,” the son of Maverick’s late friend and Radar Intercept Officer Lt. Nick Bradshaw, aka “Goose.” Facing an uncertain future and confronting the ghosts of his past, Maverick is drawn into a confrontation with his own deepest fears, culminating in a mission that demands the ultimate sacrifice from those who will be chosen to fly it.

Hangman flies like Maverick and acts like Iceman on the ground. He is cocky, amazing flyer, doesn't cover his wingman just like Maverick, and was Ready 5 on carrier just like Maverick in first movie. He grows up and saves the day just like Maverick.

I love the Hangman arc. It's a great lesson for kids. Sometimes coach puts you on the bench, or your boss doesnt put you in the role that you want. That's life. You get 5 seconds to pout about it but then you gotta get back in there and be ready to be the best backup or support player that you can be. Who knows, you may end up taking the game winning shot coming off the bench.

He’s a perfect mix of Iceman and Maverick! Anyone else notice this?

I love how Glen Powell and Miles Teller made a replica of what it was like in the original film with the confrontation and competition between Maverick and Ice Man I found that a really cool part of this film. Definitely one of my favourite films ever

Glen Powell really sold this character. Without his sheer charisma and screen presence, he could've been just another forgettable rival character. Instead, Hangman steals the show!

He’s like Maverick and Iceman combined!

Hangman was the most talented pilot out of the class, but Rooster (along with the rest of the squad picked) was more reliable and trustworthy than Hangman who had a huge ego which is why he was picked as a reserve. Hangman was still the best out of the entire class but Rooster had the most potential out of the class imo, he just had confidence issues

I like how people compare him to Ice because he plays a similar role in the movie but he really acts and flies like Mav. Ice was always cool calm and collected, waited for the enemy to make a mistake, cocky yes but he wasn't arrogant and full of himself. That's why I think he's a lot like Mav and I wish they delved into that for even 1 scene between Glen and Tom.

This guy needed a much, much bigger part. He definitely reminded me of a young Ice Man, with a flare of Mav.

My husband and I LOVED Top Gun: Maverick, and we keep coming back to what a great character Hangman is. Is he cocky? Yep. Is he kind of a jerk? Oh, definitely. 😄 But what stands out is that he’s completely in the right about two major points of the plot:

1. Rooster is in no way ready to fly this mission if he can’t put aside his grievances with Maverick.

2. Also, Hangman’s self-assurance comes from a very simple fact. He IS good at what he does; he’s very good. And he proves it by saving Rooster and Mav’s lives.

Loved Hangman. Disappointed with the uncharacteristically short final dog fight with Hangman. Definitely deserved more screen time at the end. Still a great flick.

Hangman is a great character to build plots for a good, positive story. I really hope Paramount create a great story for him.

Glenn Powell is quite an amazing character in the movie as Hangman, the charecter simmiar to Ice Man. He's a superb actor. I watched his film "Anyone But You" some time ago, and he played a fantastic role in it. After Tom Cruise, if I was looking forward to anyone in "Top Gun Maverick, " it's definitely Glenn Powell. They're casting Miles Teller in "Top Gun 3, " but in my opinion, Glenn Powell should have been given the lead role. He deserves more.
