1 - Establish a "set point."
2 - Put things back.

It's really that simple to keep a clean and organized environment. Of course, this is much easier to upkeep if you have fewer items, but even with many items, it's possible to be very organized with these two habits!

DAY 20 of daily videos! :)

I did that finally, after years of living in clutter and always looking for things O couldn't find in my home. I started with decluttering, then organising. It took me about 2-3 years to finally have my home always organised and clean all the time. Love it.

I don't know why I'm even watching this, my room is always super organized and tidy haha, but just love these videos 😍

I adopted the "one-touch" rule. So for example, if I use a plate for dinner... I try to bring it to the sink and then immediately wash it. Rather than leaving it in the sink and then having to come back to it and wash it and dry it later. You eat > wash > dry. So essentially it's "one-touch". It helps prevent messes from piling up, or for me forgetting to put things back in their place.

Well said and illustrated. The stress reduction/elimination of this practice is REAL.

I also love the add-on of “if it doesn’t have a home, it’s clutter”!

I did this when I moved into my new apartment last year in June. when I went to the apartment for viewing and had decided that I'ed move there, I made a list of where I would put which items, based on when/ how often I was going to use them. I have not had to de-clutter or reorganize my apartment SINCE JUNE last year!!

One thing that was helpful for me was understanding clean vs tidy according to how (as I remember) Marie Kondo described it- and this is a great way of keeping your space tidy (as opposed to dusting and wiping down surfaces to keep it clean).
Also loving how the end of the videos allude to the next one, and can't wait to see it.

Well, that will keep a house tidy and picked-up. "Clean" is another matter. I was waiting for cleaning tips! My house is very organized and uncluttered, but pretty dirty.

Yes, been doing this for years. I have chronic fatigue and have had to learn to clean house in 10 - 15 minute increments. The best way to clean a house is as you go. When I get up from the couch, I take things back to the kitchen and yes, they have their designated spot. It doesn't feel right to me when they don't. I keep like things together: like all computer cords, chargers, camera's, batteries etc in one place. Health items all together (I have a lot of those). All stationery together. I've had a bad habit of having multiple places for things and I had to get over it and really focus on keeping all like things together for simplicity's sake. This helps when you get older and start forgetting too. I have my own short form that I use in communication: BIF - Before I Forget. I tend to pick up at 10 p.m. before bedtime as well, just go through the house so even dedicated times works too. I live alone, it's a lot easier but you can ask the cooperation of people you live with, and I believe it is a higher conscious way of living too.

It’s no more difficult putting something in the right place as putting it in the wrong place. Great advice!

Jenna Marbles once said “just leave a room how you found it” and it sounds so simple but I can’t seem to live by this 😆

'It's no more difficult to put things in the correct place than it is in the wrong place'... this might just be life changing x

I learned this lesson from my grandchildren’s playhouse. Rule was, play all you want, mess all you want, but you must leave it perfectly clean as you found it. Floors swept last thing.
It worked! It sure taught us all a lesson as i do the same thing before going to bed. Kitchen all clean & swept, everything throughout the house put in its place. Makes the mornings so pleasant, not having to do yesterdays work.
