For those who want to know, pineapples in vietnam are about a dollar or lower. And they come with their peel removed and cut (usually when you buy at a local market )

Shopping in Germany is when you discover 20 different kinds of bread and then find 10 more

It's ₹148 in India which is quite expensive because we have pineapple 🍍 cost ₹100-120.

This is such a universal thing for immigrants. We always convert the price back to the currency of our home countries. Then like a year later you go "a pineapple for 2 euros?! Let me get a few!" 😂😂😂

I live in the US and was visiting my son in Germany. Food was so cheap in Europe & the quality was incredible.

That is so inexpensive! I’m amazed at the lower grocery prices in Europe compared to the U.S. Your petrol is more expensive than ours, but you have better public transport in and between cities.

I felt like 2 euro was very cheap for an exotic fruit and they taste nice too

She should honestly try to visit Japan once. Sometimes you can't even find an apple for that prize. I now consider a tiny box of cut pineapple for 2, 50 cheap.

My aunt used to travel in India alot when she was younger in the 70s-80s and everyone tought that she as a westerner was rich but then she'd tell them how much bread costs here (wich was like a day's salary for them back then) and they didn't think she was rich after that

Currency purchasing power is something people rarely seem to understand.

I'm from Indonesia and I sometimes see articles or people being amazed that the minimum wage in, say, Germany is X times higher than our minimum wage, oblivious to the fact that cost of living is probably X times higher too.
