You forgot the "packing your groceries in extreme rush and panic" moment 😅

Life hack for US-americans: A 25ct coin also fits in the slot to unlock the shopping kart. For people from the UK: It also works with a 10 pence coin.

In Spain we also don't respect the line when a new kasse open, but we go to the new one very slow. We are very chill about that lol

In Germany you can buy light alcoholic beverages like beer at the age of 16

I recently complained to the cashier that she was checking the id of the girl in front of me with the vodka but not me. But she just laughed into my grey-bearded 53-year old face. 😢

It's honestly a smart way to get people to do the right thing and stop stealing carts or being lazy and not putting them back. Saves money on paying people to go round up carts too.

And this is the easy mode, its only a Supermarkt and not a Discounter, where your items after cash register scanning get hurled at you at superhuman speeds.

The scene where another checkout opens and one person from the end of the waiting line storms forward to be the first to line up there is not shown very realistic.

It's actually much worse, like a Le-Mans type racing start. The moment, you hear the announcement, there is pure anarchy! If you ever wait at the checkout in a German grocery store, here is one advise which can save your life:

Never ever underestimate the accelerating ability of elderly women with their fully loaded shopping cart!

The biggest difference between Germany and USA when it comes to grocery shopping: Americans have 2 full shopping carts of junk food and Germany only buys what they need for a day or two.

I work in retail in the UK, the Americans expect someone to pack for them 😅

I live in Belgium and it’s the convention to say “bonjour” to the checkout person but I also say “how are you?” It’s not conventional but most of them like it and they’re kinder to the groceries.
