What’s perfect about this scene is Darth Vader doesn’t speak once. The only villain out of the two that are in the room is Tarkin. He just stands there breathing and watching as one of his closest ally (one he’s known since the Clone Wars) destroys a planet just to know where the Rebel base is.

I wish they showed more of Leia’s reaction to her planet dying. Depression, ptsd, and survivor’s guilt seem like reasonable responses, but she hides it like a pro.

Tarkin destroying Alderaan actually really backfired on him ironically. The Emperor was even surprised that Tarkin did it.

I love how Vader just stands there. Not a word or anything he just stands. The Princess even backs into him just show that it’s tarkin was really in charge in that room.
