Windows 12 should have....
1. A dark mode toggle
2. Lossless Bluetooth codecs
3. Improved Volume Mixer for god's sake
4. Nearby Share that works with Android
5. Renewed older system elements and dark mode in all of them
6. Better media codec support. Currently you have to sideload simple HEVC codes. It's 2022, everyone uses/should use H.265 now

Things I'm expecting from Windows 12:
- Darkmode toggle in action center
- More consistent Dark mode with redesigned dialog boxes, file copy/move progress windows, Properties windows..
- Ability to switch between Win7 like Translucent and Mica effects would be a Plus.
- Better volume controller, similar to EarTrumpet app.
- Bring back the taskbar thumbnail preview and desktop switching animations.
- Better context Menus that doesn't require showing more options.
- Nearby sharing with Bluetooth devices
- Stop forcing users with requirements like latest processor, TPM 2.0.. It works just fine even without these features. My 5 yr old core i5 2nd gen laptop without tpm is running win11 perfectly.
- Stop forcing users with Microsoft account.
- Stop forcing Microsoft Edge and Bing search everywhere. I personally use Edge and its a great browser but MS shouldn't be obsessed with 'a Google browser'.
- Better privacy features like asking for permission every time an app tries to access mic or camera. Similar to Android 12
- A native image or text copy pasting feature between Android/iPhone and PC using Microsoft companion or something would be a great addition.. Inspired by latest Mac OS
- Further improvements in Android and Linux subsystems that allows running APK, deb, rpm etc packages natively without 3rd party solutions

I seriously feel Windows 7 should be revamped again with new hardware compatibility

1) The "Show more options" when you right click is actually useful. For me who has VS and Vs Code, Tree Size, powershell 7, git etc being integrated into the menu it's actually feasible for me to have the show more options feature so I don't have to see the whole list everytime i click the right mouse button.
2) All windows hide file extensions by default.

Less background processes, using less ram, heats up less.

To me I agree of most of them and at least for me a better start menu and making the start button on the corner which will be better accessibility. If they want to actually compete, they should know what the competition does and try to be better at it

Windows doesn't need to reinvent the wheel, just bring in features and controls from mac and android that will super charge the OS. Android and IOS have been doing the same for generations.

Things I need in Windows 12 are :
1. Dark/Light mode quick toggle in Action Center.
2. Native Screen Recorder with Quick toggle in Action Center.
3. Remove Control Panel completely and move those settings into Settings app.
4. Bug/lag free OS..Smoother Animations in UI..More Consistent UI, UI overhaul.
5. Updated Native Apps & Best integration support for Android apps.
6. Lite version that competes with Chrome OS and IPAD OS.

I totally agree with you concerning the Task manager. It is annoying right clicking on the start menu

Windows 7 boot and login screen and Windows XP boot sound is what they really need to do.

Would love if startup apps (Discord, Steam, Spotify, etc.) opened either minimized or in system tray (option exists but doesn't work) so you can run apps without them popping up on your screen.

Wait a min!! I am already fine and happy with win 10. Win 11 is a modern win 10 in my opinion but lacks a lot of features. Plus it's running smooth as silk as compared to 11. Win 12 is a bit too early and it's not yet perfected win 11. I would like to see it released in 2030s time. I think it will be perfect opportunity for them to modernize as well and be capable like that of the MacOS.

I don't feel the things you said bring weightage to windows 12, what I do want to see is the optimization of the windows cmd tool and revamping it to more Unix style by default and be lag free which ofcourse which you pointed the lite version but the fact that it skims out features is dreading and also the optimization in memory usage and less blue screen
