Yassss!!! This is tried and true!!! As a nurse working at an integrative office, we literally Prescribe intermittent fasting and keto/low-carb nutrition for ALL patients. We educate on "hidden" sugars as well as individualize plans based on food sensitivities thru testing. We balance hormines, thyroid, and vitamin doctors hate us when we get their patients off all blood pressure and cholesterol meds. Even anxiety/depression meds go away sometimes because symptoms that manifested in depressiom/anxiety were merely an imbalance of some sort and lifestyle related. We reverse type.2 diabetes daily. I it and I love Dr. Jason Fung and his work, among many other keto/carnivore/IF youtube / healthcare professionals.... thanks for all your contribution and sharing with the world.

I have done 16/8 fasting for 5 months. Have lost 15 lbs (185-170) and my blood sugar is now in the normal range instead of pre diabetic. I no longer miss breakfast at all. Have also reduced the amount of carbohydrates that I eat at lunch and dinner. I no longer worry about becoming diabetic.

Fasting chafed my life. And I’m doing keto and was 192 pounds to 140 and been doing it for over a year and kept it off and had stage 3 kidney disease and reversed it and had 9 kidney stones removed and gout and now I’m still at 140 and no more kidney stones and my kidney disease is at a stage 1. Fasting and healthy keto changed my life. I now am going to school to be a nurse to help people with my knowledge and share my story and hope to help others. And I only drink water and electrolytes! I also do prolonged fasting/ intermittent fasting as well and I do omad. I do 18/20 hour fast. I feel great less inflammation, my blood pressure is great and I work out 4 times of light excerise. I highly recommend this lifestyle change!

I reversed my severe insulin resistance removing all refined sugar from my diet. Instead of refined sugar I ate fruit every night instead.

Dr Fung is my hero. I have diabetes. He makes it so simple. I tell everybody I know about doctor Fung. Even the hygienist who cleans my teeth at the dentist. She said I did a great job flossing. I said I don’t floss much, my gums are better because I don’t eat sugar.

I just want you to know Dr.Fung, that your information has changed my life! I have shed 21.5lbs in 5 weeks and I will never look at food the same way again. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

You can almost pinpoint the decade when the obesity and Type 2 epidemic began in the US. One man at Coca-cola decided they'd change the formula to use HFCS instead of granulated sugar to save money. It was the beginning of my journey toward obesity and insulin resistance.

To compare high fructose corn syrup and an apple is like comparing apples and oranges. 😂 No need to stay away from a red apple. However avoid pop and added sugars is great advice.

My other half insisted I watch this video because I am a Type 2 diabetic. Very interesting stuff, especially as I have always been told I need to worry about my belly fat. None of the medics involved in my State-sponsored neglect have ever mentioned that a fatty liver is actually more dangerous.

In passing, I love the way you are able to break down complex subjects in a way that, as a layman, I can understand without too much brain injury! Calm, measured and focussed explanations are as rare as hen's teeth in these modern days where everyone thinks they have to speak at impossible speeds to maximise the amount of content they deliver! I really appreciate a presentation that is delivered at a speed which matches the ability of my brain to absorb the new material!

Thanks Dr.Fung.
Fruit was touted as being wonderful. Five a day and all that .
But it should only be eaten in season. Not all year round.
And whole fruit not canned or juiced or smoothied.
Also I dont think you can indulge in it until you lose the surplus pounds.
Happy Sunday.

No "oses'" for me for almost 2 years now! 😀 I'm soooo much healthier and better for it. I've lost over 150 lbs, I'm off my blood pressure meds, my osteoarthritis pain is so much better and my asthma is gone. Don't miss it, don't need it, don't want it. " Fruits are overrated." I gave " fruit the boot" too. I'm loving my new life 😍. Thank you Dr Fung!🙏😊

Awesome information thank you very much I have had Type 1 diabetes for over 20 years now and I’m now 51 yrs old & gaining weight really only visible in my belly area & for 49 yrs of my life I could always see my stomach muscles until 2 yrs ago so I’m going to correct the issue w/solid info like this 👍🏼

However, there is no comparison between eating whole fruit, with ingesting isolated compounds of fructose! The body metabolises those completely differently.

As a Custodian (Janitor) it is perfectly clear to me to avoid any added sugar and avoid fructose like the plague - it is very sad that the nutrition break garbage I collect twice a day is full of sugery products on a rare occasion I may see an apple with only one bite mark. I am reading both his books and I highly recommend them

Good presentation but there is a risk in exaggerating the role of fructose compared to total carbohydrate — “carbohydrate” means sugars and starches. The poison is in the dose. Demonizing sugar has the danger of people, like the Harvard School of Public Health giving the impression that all those “healthy” carbs in vegetables are ok which is not true if you are trying to reduce carbohydrates. If you have diabetes, starch is probably worse than sugar — fructose does not stimulate insulin secretion. However, fructose alone (in the absence of dietary glucose) is not safe. We get very little fructose by itself in the diet. Different fruits have different ratios but roughly, fruits are about equal amounts of glucose, fructose and sucrose, or approximately equal amounts of glucose and fructose (since sucrose is 1:1 fructose and glucose). Good advice which I am sure Dr. Fung would agree with is the first plan of attack is to reduce total carbohydrate. In my view, the real risk of sugar is: 1) easy to over-consume, and 2) manufacturers put it in all kinds of things where it doesn’t belong.

I watched this video while eating a nectarine. No doubt high amounts of fructose are unhealthy but Dr. Fung does not provide specifics. There is around 5 to 6 grams of fructose in a nectarine. 100 grams or more is a lot. So I would not cut out fruit completely. Given the nutrition and fiber I would say that is healthy to eat some fruit here and there. Just avoid extremes - in either direction.

As someone who suffers from Hyperinsulimia I have to say eating whole foods and complex carbohydrates and limiting my saturated fats has been a game changer. I eat 4 servings of fruit a day and also eat plenty of legumes, sweet potatoes...etc. Since following Doctor Mike and Layne Norton I've seen my fasted insulin drop over the year. We're all different and react differently to foods. The difference between medicine and poison is dosage.
