I would totally go experimental for a 100% personal aircraft. But it’s not worth losing the ability to rent it out to offset the ownership costs.

Love how your title says reasons not too, then you give mostly positive stuff lol.
Here in NZ we have 2 categories,
1. Microlight class 2 (this is where you can fly a plane with payload up to 600kg, but must have 5km visibility and cannot fly over built up areas and,
2. LSA where you are under GA regulations but can fly IFR and fly a payload of 700kg or more, but you have to have a PPL and your plane is subject to all the same checks and measures as a GA aircraft.
I'm training to have a microlight class 2 licnence atm, this suits my wife and i, even though it limits us on weather and payload the cost is amazing, only costing as much as a car to run and allowing us to travel cross country quickly. It actually costs us less to fly from our hometown to the south island than it would a comercial flight for 1 person!

You can do your own work 💪 as a 30 year car mechanic, Mercedes/Porsche tech ... this is a huge plus for me ! ... anyone wanna trade up with a low time cessna 150 with an experimental?

so, just a ballpark: isn't it time for an overall of the rules and all the hoops and hurdles, beyond MILLIONS in cost, which non main straim aircraft manufacturers must go through in order to access the fully approved status?!
