I haven’t been inside Target in more than 6 mos, and don’t miss it. Most of our spending goes toward our food budget. As for clothing, I find a lot of shirts for my husband at thrift stores, and I’m talking name brand shirts. I sew a lot of my clothing. Shoes and underwear are purchased on sale. As retirees on a fixed income, we are careful with our budget.

I say it over and over again on your videos. My mom died at 50 and always said “I’ll do that when I’m retired”. We then spent 3 years doing bucket list items.
Do the things you love! Do them with the people you love! Don’t wait.

I think one of the greatest things about this video is YOUR KIDS have embraced this mindset as early as they have. The STRUGGLES they will likely avoid as they continue to live their lives will keep the stress lower, and give them more energy to put towards experiences that make them successful and happy. I hope I can impart the same priorities on my son as he grows (he's three).

Growing up in a military family we were always frugal. I moved out at 21 with only $800/mo from my BBQ restaurant job and could only afford a place for $380/mo. Fast forward 10 years later, I'm back in school, work in Healthcare, and can follow my passion of traveling the world. But I had/have to budget and live below my means in order to do so. I'm still not where I want to be but it is a huge improvement. Frugality saved my life.

About 1 1/2 years into covid, I said to a friend, “I miss going to Target and buying crap I don’t need.” You know what? I don’t miss it. I still haven’t been back.

I just bought a $5.00 bag from good will. It's fabulous. Not a fan of tiger print, I still bought it. Stood out at bag claims. Perfect.

Literally watching this after watching someone decorate for fall video and it's like you are saying this directly to me "you do not need 30 cute fake pumpkins" Thanks, that was a close one!

I used to frequent the malls, target, old navy etc. I had a stroke 2 years ago and this may sound weird but it has helped me stay out of stores and lean to be frugal.

In the 45 years that I’ve been married I have purchased at least 10 vacuum cleaners. For years I picked out the cheapest version which would always break. I finally got smart, asked everyone I knew for recommendations and finally bought what for me was a very expensive vacuum. That was ten years ago and I’m still using it!

I love being frugal so we can spend our money on experiences with our family and friends because memories are what you are going to hold onto ❤️.

All this. Yes yes yes. My husband grew up totally poor. I grew up middle class but money was taboo. My parents never taught me anything about it. Thank goodness for my husband teaching me frugality in our early 20s. It has served us well.

I love the relationship you have with your girls! They understand and respect what you do....no eye rolls, and no "ok mom, whatever" They embrace it. I love that. ❤

Growing up my parents taught us alot about savings, bulk buying with deals on meats, discount stores and etc. When i met my husband, he grew up living paycheck to paycheck and having their power turned off a ton, no food and etc. Once i started telling him about alot of the tricks you do on this chancel and how I grew up, he made a big change! We now have two emergency fund accounts on top of savings and everyday bills. It is not easy but it is possible! Its ultimately a lifestyle change. Because of the changes, we were able to afford all our emergencies ( new AC unit, 4 emergency room visits, totaled truck, new transmission and brand new well pump and tank)on top of buying our first home all in 2020. I continue to watch ur chancel to help me get better and better with saving, homemade meals and etc.!!

Purchase things as tools, not to fill a void in your happiness. Love it!

Great message that I desperately need to take to heart. My daughter has sadly taken after me and has a family of her own and they struggle EACH AND EVERY MONTH to pay their bills! They sometimes have to wait to buy groceries. I am forwarding this video to my daughter along with a note explaining why. You are truly and inspiration and I never hesitate to click on one of your videos because I know I will learn something. Thank you so much. And it was so neat seeing you interacting with your daughter and her friend. You are definitely one of the cool moms! Please take care and have a Blessed day ❤️

I've been a fan of the minimalists for a long time. And an important thing I take from them is that there are 24hrs in a day. You cannot afford to spend those hours on ppl that do not align with your values. It's ok to choose not to spend time with ppl that give you anxiety or make you unhappy.

Went shopping with my sister, I bought stuff I didn’t need. I took most of it back. She shops when she is happy or sad. I’m only buying stuff we need. I have been purging, it’s stressful for me though. Thanks for the video.

Retirement at 45 is one thing, if you can afford your own health insurance. My dad said he wished he'd worked a bit longer, for that reason. My mom developed MS about 5yrs after and Dad had to go back to work going from a VP of manufacturing (in which he worked his way up to front sweeping floors) to being a hospital janitor for minimum wage, a job in which he was existent at regardless of his pay. He worked until she was 65, when she qualified forMedicare, just to take care of his wife. Just a thought to keep in mind. The ending was my favorite, and as I have said before yours is my #1 channel 💞💞💞

I'm super frugal, but it does make me happy when I buy, even groceries...I think it's the gathering genes!
