I'll tell you why you are my favorite instructor on Youtube: you have mentioned several times that you used to cast the club and now you have obviously overcome that and have a great golf swing. So we casters have hope to do the same. Some instructors seem to have been born with a great swing and only see the bad ones in their students, but you clearly have the experience. I have learned a lot from you, Clay, and will keep learning from you until I get this thing right! And it doesn't hurt that you're a southern boy like me. lol

I was winging the ball left so hard it was awful. I am a lefty and closing the club face in on my down swing and not swinging down as hard as I can as well as shallowing my swing totally transformed my golf shot over night. I couldn't believe the shots that were coming off of my club face. Thank you so much for your tips 1 month into golf and I am SO addicted. also my hands would hurt all the time after a range session... now with all of these tips my hands hurt at first (from swinging poorly before) but a few swings in and boom the pain was gone. when my bucket was gone I wanted another one!!

Hey Clay, I have a tendency to roll my wrists on the takeaway. I have been trying to take the club more closed on the takeaway (keep right hand on top longer) however I have a tendency to tilt my upper body forward and push/block shots quite often.

My main question is, when swinging the club, should I be trying to go straight back and thru the ball, like hammering a nail in a wall (you don't twist a hammer when hitting a nail)?

Please HELP Clay, what drills or suggestions might you have to get rid of the shanks? Shanks are keeping me from showing face on the golf course ever again, thoughts please?

So what do you use for the stick? Is it one of those markers for the end of the driveway ? Or is it just a wooden dowel ? How long ?

The Laginator is a good tool for this too. Wesley Bryan's dad invented it.

Thanks Clay. The is something new to try with the dog. I'm use to the rope and ball drill. But this looks to better for feed back. I'm definitely going to try this next time at the park. 👍👍👍

I can’t seem to close the club face when I do this. Stays way open. Not releasing the club? Wrists too stiff/tight?

You could sell that stick for $59.99 on Amazon.

Golf instruction should remove the word “release” it’s lost it’s meaning. Or, more to the point, it means radically different things to different instructors.

Effortless, easy steps, simple secret moves, all terms used by many instructors to teach the swing. So, to give to the view from the pupils side, I challenge you to become a student ..watch a Jim Furyk video, and go make a video on how easy it was for you to follow his swing with great accomplishments. Its easy for you because you have developed mechanics over many years I assume. So terms like, simple, easy, basic, is simple for you, yes, but not so simple for everyone else...try something that your not use to, and maybe you will appreciate our struggles with simple instruction.
