It's been 18 years since I got my wedding ring and I believe it was about $600. It worked! Still married. 😁

People buy expensive rings and get divorced a year later.

The diamond industry was genius to make men link diamond size to income. My wife didn’t even want a diamond and went with a sapphire. Pretty ring from $3, 000 - she still loves it now that we can afford much more.

I would say to spend $100 - $1000. There is zero correlation between the price of the ring with the success of the marriage.

25 years ago I paid 600 for both our rings, we are still married. If a woman needs me to go into debt so she can have a big ring, she is not the woman for me. Her and her next boyfriend can be broke together.

I'm getting married in May, spent 2 full pay checks on the ring, wedding will be about $6k all in. Paid cash for everything. I was committed to starting our marriage 100% debt free with 8 months expenses in the bank. Saving that 20% down payment is next.

Simple gold rings for me and my wife ages ago. "No extrusions" was important then. Something that could be worn with gloves and while doing stuff.

We went with inexpensive wedding rings. We decided that we’re going to splurge when he get to a landmark anniversary, like 20, 25 or 30 years, when we have more money and are hopefully still together :-)

I’m in the same boat, Brandon! I’m saving up for an engagement ring, a wedding, and a down payment on a house while putting away 25% in my SEP IRA and maxing out my Roth IRA. Sometimes I feel like I’m putting too much away for retirement but I’m sure my future self will thank me.

No lay person can tell the difference between diamond and another clear gemstone such as moissanite. You should definitely not trick your future spouse but if you can agree to not give your money to the diamond syndicate you can get a much better value with another stone. Basically any other gemstone is a better value. DeBeers invented the association between diamonds and weddings for their own benefit.

I bought my wife her wedding ring at the pawn shop. With so many divorces you can find amazing deals. We did a court house wedding, 11-12-13. We even got to be on the news, we will never forget it.

Get the cheapest ring possible. Spent less than $400 for hers and my ring and less than that to get married. we celebrated eating chili cheese fries and shared a glass of wine. still married 33 years later.

My friends and I spoke about this and they said they would spend a $20k minimum on the engagement ring alone. I asked my girlfriend (which couples should always discuss about a possible marriage), and she said she was good with like a $5k ring. I think that’s a perfect number for me not to lose any sleep or have regrets.

Where were you guys 3 months ago! 😂 I didn't want to wait until 45 to get the big ring so I just did it right from the jump

This is exactly how I approached it. I told my jeweler, "I don't want to buy another one in twenty years!" I will be considering buying her more pieces on significant anniversaries, but I didn't want to need to trade up on a ring.

You should spend what you can afford. Nobody should tell you or advice you what to spend. At the end of the day. If she loves you. It doesn't matter how cheap or expensive her ring is because love means so much more. So spend what you can afford 💍

So basically make her happy and don't go into debt? I think I checked those boxes. I spent about 1.5 months gross income which was really tough for me to come up with. It is not cheap! But she loves the ring and gets compliments and anything bigger would look silly on her finger, so it is here to stay. The wedding was pricey, but you kinda pay as you go as you book vendors which makes it doable. We had the house and savings rate sorted beforehand, so it made it easier to spend 3 months salary on a celebration. But starting out your married life in debt is definitely not the way to go.

For a guy, $50 max. I have been married almost 13 years and have lost 5. I am on #6, I found #3 a few months ago so I have a backup. My wifes engagement ring wedding band combo was around 10K.

What's the point of expensive rings

I would question the good sense of a man that would pay for a diamond... what a waste of money.
