I've had my 1996 Corolla since college. It's at 295k miles now.

I can’t understand how someone can put over 20k on a credit card... I would be terrified!

I got great financial advice from a relative when I was in my 20s: never confuse your ego with your transportation. Buncha years later, our 2001 and 2006 are imperfect but running just fine.

Dumbest thing I ever did was justify needing to trade in my paid off car for a new minivan so it’d be easier to put my kid in the car

"you're not a Civic" - my father drove a Civic until the day he died and was a millionaire. I likewise have always driven a Honda Civic. Have never once had car or money problems.

Get a Honda civic, Toyota Camry or Corolla

Think Toyota Corolla or Honda Civic, both are known for reliability and going 300k miles is normal.

Nothing wrong with a civic. Had mine (bought used) for 8 years 235, 000+miles still going. Just take care of it.

I am a former used car dealer for 30 years and I think the best pick for $5k is a Toyota Camry, v6, if u can.

@3:10 Don't put down the Honda Civic. We bought a 2002 Civic for our son in 2010 when he was in high school. He is still driving it.

I cringed at the Ford Taurus and Chevy cavalier . Haha. You can get 10 years worth in a 5k Honda or Toyota

Well said Dave Ramsey - nuggets of gold, call after call.
My personal 2 cents - get over this dream car thing, love the cars you own and they'll love you back.

Best cars I've owned were Toyotas and Hondas

I bought a 2006 honda civic hybrid with only 16k miles 4 years ago for 5800 cash. This was the best use of my money. The car ran brand new and very reliable. I still drive it today.
I have since built wealth due to this decision 4 years ago.

I recently negotiated on a car, and honestly I don't see how anyone does buy a new car or settles for payments. I'm gonna drive it until the wheels fall off!
