FILM DESCRIPTION:
Director Juan Antonio Bayona follows up his critically-acclaimed feature debut The Orphanage with this drama set during the 2004 tsunami, and detailing one family's incredible fight for survival. Inspired by actual events, The Impossible opens on December 26th, as Henry (Ewan McGregor), his wife Maria (Naomi Watts), and their three sons lounge poolside following an eventful Christmas. But just as the family begins to forget their troubles and settle in for a relaxing tropical getaway, one of the worst natural disasters in modern history changes their lives in the blink of an eye. Meanwhile, as shock gives way to abject horror, the devoted parents fight to protect their children, encountering scenes heart-wrenching tragedy and experiencing acts of incredible compassion as the entire country of Thailand is engulfed in chaos. Tom Hollander and Geraldine Chaplin co-star.

something that always gets me when a older brother or sister protects or take care of there younger brother or sister 😭

So emotional. I realised that the older brother here takes care of the younger one, but when they reunite with their oldest brother the older one here turns into a child again because he really needs comfort and care. And the oldest brother becomes the protecting one. And in the next clip again, when they all meet their father, the oldest brother goes back to being a child in the arms of his dad. Such an incredible matter of fact.

It's always a joy to see Geraldine Chaplin on screen. In real life she is very humble, very nice a loving person. In this scene she brings some light, some magic to the movie after so many tears. It's a relief to see her, here, as she understands everything.

This was based on a families true story. And I think the actors in this film. And the way this film was written was so incredibly respectful to the terror of that event. Amazing.

Thomas is being so brave in the circumstances. He's so young and scared (as you would be without your parents near by) yet he steps up and takes care of his little brother, Simon.

He's definitely the most sensitive and intellectual of the three brothers.

The old woman in this scene is Charlie Chaplin's daughter, Geraldine.  She had an important part in the movie Doctor Zhivago back in the 1960s.

That's Charlie Chaplain's granddaughter. In my opinion she made him proud in this scene.

The acting in this movie is phenomenal. I've never seen that woman before but she is a great actress.

When the woman appears in the darkness I thought is she alive or someone who did not survive? Then she describes how we can still see the light from stars that have died, they look the same as the other stars in the sky. A great message and beautiful performance by Chaplin.
