This scene shows humanity at its purest and highest.

This was one of the most moving scenes in the movie. Many of those old women had lost family, yet they took the trouble to help a stranger from another country.

“My boys I can’t see them, my boys.” This scene breaks my heart. Maria knew she was dying and she was crying for her boys.😭😭😭💔

It truly was for the people of Thailand, their finest hour. Even after they have lost so much, that didn’t stop them from reaching out to those who were trapped, they made space for those who were displaced, they shared food and clothes to those who lost both when the waves hit. They used their own vehicles and gas to ferry hundreds to safety and to the hospitals. If there were heroes at that tsunami, they were all the beautiful people of Thailand. Truly does show you that there are always good brave people around any corner, anywhere in this world. If it wasn’t for such bravery and care, thousands more would’ve perished.

If you haven't seen The Impossible, you've missed an extraordinary experience.  It is so much more than a predictable disaster film.  Every performance is strong and true - Naomi Watts and Tom Holland are especially wonderful.  Watts got an Oscar nomination, and Holland deserved one.  I'll warn you, though, that the movie is VERY intense.  I'm a grown man and cried through many scenes.  I would not recommend it for young children.

We're so used to stories about fictional apocalypses bringing out the absolute worst in people, it's refreshing to see a true story about a real apocalypse bringing out the best in people. This is a good film to watch if you find yourself loosing faith in humanity.

The old ladies dressing her up was such a tender scene. A breathe of fresh air after all they went through 😢

I couldn't understand what the villagers were saying, but I DO know by their actions that they were doing their best to bless the villagers

This is what humanity should always be about. Helping each other, love and support and never giving up. The world can be beautiful even in the most unexpected and disastrous circumstances.

My Aunt's family could of gone to the wrong beach in Thailand in 2004.
They lived in the center of that country (Aunt was a US citizen working at embassy there) and would alternate visiting the southern and northern beaches.
That day they randomly decided to visit the northern beaches. Turns out their favorite southern beach got pummeled that day by the tsunami.
They could of been killed if they had gone south that day!

Such a moving scene. These people had nothing, probably lost loved ones of their own. And yet they showed so much compassion for complete strangers from another country.

I felt sad for Daniel in this scene when he was left behind. 😢

I understood the local dialect in this scene and I find it so moving, so warm and yet so sad. The humanity of it all.

This is real emotion. I get that she's probably in shock or something, but I like that she doesn't have to speak the native peoples' language for them to understand what she's saying.

This shows a more realistic depiction of the aftermath but man, human kindness has no language. It gets me when the people help her and try to do everything they can. It was scary when I found out about the tsunami as a child because my teacher at the time was on vacation there. I spent the entire time crying because I was scared my teacher was dead but thankfully she was safe but so many people got lost or injured due to the disaster 😔

Kinda rude to assume someone’s lying about losing someone in a tsunami

This movie at times is incredibly hard to watch, very graphic but it portrays a natural disaster amazingly. All of these actors deserved awards.
