(Part 2) At the end of the LotR-trilogy, when standing at the Grey Havens, Frodo reveals that he will be going with the last ship to leave Middle-Earth, to the shock and grief of his friends. (HD Blu-ray)

This scene is so emotional, sad and heartbreaking, but still so beautiful and a perfect ending.

The smile that frodo gives, in my opinion, is the first really genuine smile he has given for the first time since he was burdened with the ring. It's almost like a relief for him, he's finally getting the rest he deserves

For the recap, i searched out to find the fate of each member of Fellowship and i found interesting
1. Gandalf, as the only wizard who true to his cause, was the only wizard that permitted to sail back to his homeland in the west, in land of Aman
2. Frodo, as the ringbearer, also permitted to sail to the west live and heal physically and mentally after holding the one ring for long
3. Sam, as a companion, did bear the one ring for brief. Because of that, Sam too was permitted to sail west and (presumably) meet again with Frodo in land of Aman
4. Merry and Pippin, they both became an influental figure within Shire, as well as acknowledged as a councillor to represents Shire in court of Elessar. They spent their elder days in Gondor and laid in tomb of Kings of Gondor, as a token of respect
5. Aragorn, the king of Reunited Kingdom of Gondor, will continue to rule for next century or more, outlived both his loyal servant (Faramir, Steward of Gondor) and his trusted ally (Eomer, King of Rohan). He passed away in Gondor and laid to rest in Tomb of Kings, with Merry and Pippin laid beside him.
6. Legolas, the wood elf, lead some of his people to live in Ithilien. After Aragorn passed away, as custom for the Elves, Legolas will build his ship and allowed himself to sail to the west.
7. Gimli, the dwarf, lead some of his people to live near Helms Deep and make a new dwarven realm. After Aragorn passed away, He too will follow Legolas, as a token for their friendship, to sail to the west. Gimli is the only Dwarf that permitted to do so

They have their ways to depart from Middle earth and all of them will gain a peace, happy, and blissful ending

Tolkien understood war. He knew how it leaves scars that never truly heal. Frodo's anguish is so palpable and is written so well because it comes from the mind of a man who fought and suffered through one of the worst wars in human history and lived with the trauma of it all his life.

My favorite line "We set out to save The Shire, Sam, and it has been saved. But not for me." Gets me every time.

One of the greatest parts was when Frodo stepped onto the ship and smiled back at Sam, Merry and Pippin. At that moment he was himself again.

The best ending, to the best movie, to the best story, of all time.

When Frodo looks back from the ship, and you can see the color returned to his face and realize how pained he had been until then…

Imagine saying goodbye to a friend who you literally walked into hell for.

It’s been 18 years since I first saw this in theaters, yet to this day I can’t help but tear up every single time I watch this.

One thing I really love about this scene is what Peter Jackson and the crew did for Frodo. While it is clearly shown that Frodo never really healed bearing the ring, even after it was destroyed he says this. But in every scene since the ring was destroyed he still looks depressed and a bit pale, even in scenes where he is happy and laughing (Sam's wedding). It isn't until he turns back to his friends while on the boat that you physically see life in his eyes and color in face again. he literally has rosy cheeks and the bags under his eyes are gone. Just love that detail that he is on his way to truly healing, can be at peace, and that it happens the moment he let's go. I'm sure its written in the book, a testament to Tolkein's beauty in words, but these little details are what make these movies so beautiful as well.

Sam is the heart of Lord of the Rings. There would be no direction without him. He makes the entire trilogy work. With all the wars and adventures, he made all worthwhile. True love. true loyal friendship and brotherhood. Sam is devastatingly understated in the triology. I wish we all had a Sam in our lives

Merry had spoken to Eowyn about how the only thing keeping him going in the face of all this despair was his desire to see his friends safe and well. You can see the grief in Dominic's eyes, as Merry realizes that even though they had succeeded, this was still the last time he would ever see Frodo.

Would you believe this is one of the first scenes they recorded? Yep. The characters spill their hearts out as the journey finally ends, and it was one of the first things they filmed.
Speaks to the their talent as actors.

I remember when the films came out and received their accolades, there were complaints from main-stream celebrities that the ending was too long-winded and some even left the theater early. Filmmakers who aren't dedicated to the story would have shortened the ending. No proper goodbyes, no tears, just a "And they lived happily ever after." But not Peter, Fran, and Philippa. Bless them for giving this trilogy the ending it needed.

That's gotta be the biggest tear-jerker moment I've ever witnessed in a movie.

That's heavy. The impossible weight of knowing you will never see again someone you love: not because of death, just different paths. That person still lives, and his life goes on, his thoughts flow and you know all of this. That person lives, just not in your life.

The smile that Frodo shares with his friends one last time as he boards the boat is a clear sign that, having now let go of Middle Earth and The Shire, he is already on the road to healing from the horrors he endured as a Ringbearer.

Gosh this scene is so emotional especially with the music. I probably wouldn’t have teared up as much without it. Howard Shore is awesome.

I love how Pippin's reaction is almost the most mature, when he started out the most immature
